Command line doesn't work

In some of the previous version, VD can receive command line and play the specified video in the command, even if VD is running. I always use this characteristic to control video playback with my own script to do academic experiment.
However, in the latest version, this doesn't work. If VD isn't running, a command line with admin permission can startup VD, but before, there is an annoy warning in HMD. This warning don't appear in the previous version, I remember. Then, when VD is running, the command line no longer works, even with admin permission.
Since VD is the ONLY VR video player I found on Steam with desktop projection, it EXTREMELY agree with our need in experiment.
May I have your help?

Also, the "Play with Vritual desktop" in contextmenu doesn't work too, but I guess this is the admin permission issue.

Ok so this is an annoying Steam popup, its not from Virtual Desktop. I'll look into removing it. For the time being, use the following command line to avoid the popup:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 382110 "C:\Path\OfYourVideo.mp4"

So I can’t get rid of that Steam pop up at this time. I’ll have to get rid of the initial dialog in Steam first and for that I need Valve to add a feature. But I’ve fixed the “Play with Virtual Desktop” when the app is already started, so this one will work correctly again.

Wow! I've already got the update and now command line works again when VD is running. And the annoying Steam popup only apears before VD starts, so it won't interrupt my experiment.

HELP!!!
After updated v1.7 yesterday(UTC+8), everything works well.
However after it automatically updated just now, the command line and "play with Virtual Desktop" don't work again. Please fix it, thanks!
And as I'm going to carry out my experiment, I need to use VD almost everyday from morning till night. This problem really affects the progress. Is there any way for me to keep this function stable for a month, such as preventing VD's auto updating?

It works correctly for me. Don't know why it would stop working for you. Perhaps this is SteamVR launching the Overlay and preventing the app from starting. To fix this, go to SteamVR windows then settings, then Applications then uncheck Virtual Desktop.

But I unchecked it before... Maybe the Vritual Desktop Service needs to be stopped? Or admin permission needed? I'll try these later, but it's really weird since it dosen't work just after today's update.

Maybe the update re-enabled the option in SteamVR? That’s the only thing preventing the Play with Virtual Desktop from working. If Valve doesn’t have a solution to let me start the main app when the Overlay is running, I’ll implement a workaround. In the meantime just make sure the Overlay isn’t starting with SteamVR.

I finally found the crux of the problem. This morning, my PC was started AFTER HTC Vive plugged in. As a result, Steam and Steam VR automatically started up. If VD is launched with Steam under this state, command line doesn't work. BTW, the setting item in SteamVR keeped unchecked always.
I have no idea why this happens but I found the temporary solution. Just stop Steam and restart it...
So how do you think about it?

Ah, thanks for the repro steps, I think I know why. Steam is probably launching the app with /ForceOpenVR and the video file name must be first. This will be fixed in the next version, I’ll also make sure that the command line works in all other cases. Sorry for the trouble and thanks again for the repro steps!

It's working correctly here. I made sure to test this before release.

After a full uninstall - reinstall its working now. Initially it would only load the video on the first time it opened.
