Virtual Desktop

Virtual Desktop

Virtual Desktop Oculus Quest - Connected but nothing happens?
Just purchased Virtual Desktop, with the sole purpose to play VR games.
The Quest App sees my PC, it connects, tests the bandwidth and says "Connected".
And that's all ... I can select it but nothing happens.

I've checked the Windows Firewall setting to not block incoming requests.

Since the firewall in my network is a bit more advanced than a regular router (pfSense), I was wondering if this may be related to it. If so: what ports need to be allowed?
And on that note: why is an outside service needed?

I've been using that as well - unfortunately, I have no audio when using JackD83's version :-(
Video works great by the way ;-) ...
I've trying to use Oculus Link as well (the recommended Anker cable), but unfortunately I get the dreaded "General Device Problem".

I'm just sending audio from PC directly to my wireless headphones. This also saves on 5GHz wifi bandwidth ;-)

😉 That would wok as well of course 😜

If it says connected but doesn’t start streaming it’s not a firewall or network issue; it’s a GPU driver issue most likely. Make sure you have the latest drivers and windows updates installed

Thanks for the reply ggodin... 👍🏻
The drivers are all up to date, and in the meanwhile ALVR is running smooth.
If VD can provide a better experience, then I’m all open for testing VD again.

ALVR is completely different from Virtual Desktop, doesn’t use the same tech so whether it works or not is irrelevant. What GPU do you have and what driver version? Are you using desktop or laptop and what’s the version of Windows displayed in the Streamer window?

I didn't know that ALVR and VD use different tech.
So far ALVR runs well though, but I'm open to VD if this improves the experience.

I'm running everything on a Windows 10 (Pro v10.0.18363 Build 18363) gaming laptop (Razer Blade).

CPU: Quad core i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz.
GPU: nVidia GT1060 with 6Gb ram. Drivers: nVidia 445.75.
RAM: 16Gb

The PC connected straight to the WiFi AP over Ethernet.
The Quest is the only device connected to the same AP (5Ghz - 40Mhz bandwidth, but I could change that to 80Mhz or 20Mhz, just read somewhere that 40Mhz was the recommended setting).

I haven't overclocked anything and did not install any tools to tweak things.

Update your Intel graphics drivers from here that should fix your issue: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html

Thanks for the link! Excellent tool to detect drivers - I had not seen this one before.
I've updated the Intel HD530 drivers.
Any suggestion how to test this without having to buy VD?
I'd be happy to pay for VD if it indeed works better than ALVR.

p.s. don't want to sound cheap and I very much appreciate your efforts! (I realize that developing and supporting takes a lot of time and energy)
