Add custom environments to Oculus store version?
Hi there,

Is it possible to add custom environments if I purchased the Oculus store version? I don't want to make any myself, but add environments downloaded from the web. I can open 3d stero cubemaps through the 3d image viewer, but as soon as I navigate away from that tab the image goes back to the selected environment. There should be a way to set a 3D image as the "background" persistently.

If you have the Steam version, the environments available through the workshop will show up in the Oculus version. If you only have the Oculus version you can still use custom environments by double clicking on downloaded .vde files. You can also create an environment from a 360 photo using the included environment editor executable (it's in the install folder). I might add a way to create an environment from a 360 photo, but there a couple things that will be missing (like a background image) so I'm letting users create them manually for now.
@ggodin: Is there any Tutorial or why i dont find anything on how to make/add own 3D Environments?

I know this is a dead forum but I wanted to ask: how do I get the steam enviorments to the quest app? I can't find a "link" button and can't figure out how to transfer them via files, so how do I get them from pc to quest?

It’s not a dead forum; it’s a forum that answers question about the app on Steam only.
Quest app does not support custom environments, entirely different engine with different graphics API and operating system. No plans to have custom environments for it either; performance constraints are too hard to hit.

Ah, I see, thank you for the reply, I thought there was some setting I was missing, but it makes sense that custom environments are only for the pc. Also I mistakenly called it a "forum" when really I was referring to the discussion, since the last comment here was in 2017, but I am glad you were able to respond
