Any tips to reduce audio delay? [Quest]
Hey! 1.10.2 practically solved all my visual-related concerns, I am getting 20-25ms and the gameplay could not be smoother. But I am getting annoyingly delayed audio. Before, I had more latency but at least video and audio were synced. Now I cannot play Beat Saber because even if I just look at blocks and it's very responsive, I cannot go with the beat.

Anyone had similiar issues with audio?

For rhythm games, like Beat Saber, there’s an option to adjust the sound delay. That being said delay with audio is usually router related

Well, I've got an audio delay of about 200ms compared to the video.
How should this be router related? Don't we have an AV stream including audio and video? How should a router split this?

Video and audio are sent on different sockets (ports) and sometimes routers will prioritize certain traffic

Okay... But why is this? Would rendering this as a single stream introduce additional delay on a powerful PC?
How could I get around this? Maybe connect the quest to the PC in wifi directly without a router in between?

Would be worth a try to use a hotspot to see if it’s your router causing issues

Okay. Sounds valid. I am currently waiting for new wifi antennas for my 9260NGW wireless adapter. I will report when they arrived.

So I connected the quest to my PC's wifi (without using a router).
This didn't change the audio delay at all. It's still about 200ms.

So there must be another reasont for the A/V to be async. What could it be?

I’m looking into it

Any news on this?

It’s crazy complex to optimize audio in Android. I’m making progress but it’s taking longer than anticipated

I still think it might be easier to encode audio and video together as one stream.

Hi, I was about to write that I experience the same audio latency issue when I spoted the availability of beta release 1.13.0.
I just tried it and now audio seams perfectly aligned with video. I'll test it more on coming days but it appears very promising already.
Awesome job and many thanks!

Thank you very much ggodin!

Yes, v1.13.0 improved audio latency to a point where it doesn't really matter in most games (~50ms). Thanks!
