BSOD - "vdvad.sys"
Been getting a blue screen of death (Win 10) at random times when using Virtual Desktop (reports an issue with "vdvad.sys"). Never had any problems before, seems to happen randomly once a day, and it seems to trigger at the start of a video/audio stream (then the audio glitches out). It's happened from a youtube video (chrome) and the Virtual Desktop media player.

Googling "vdvad.sys" found a couple things indicating it has to do with an audio driver that Virtual Desktop uses?

Anyone else having similar problems? Know of any fix?

Thanks

Yes that’s the virtual audio driver that Virtual Desktop uses. You can uncheck “Use Virtual Audio Driver” and that will prevent Virtual Desktop from using it. In any case it’s the first time I’ve heard of a BSOD because of it so I’m a little puzzled.

Ok cool I will try and run for a few days with that unchecked and see if I bsod again (so far so good).

Is there any advantage to using the VD audio driver? Sounds fine with it disabled...

The driver prevents sound from going to your regular computer speakers and enables the positional audio feature.

Hi, I've also been getting BSOD on vdvad.sys, even while not using Virtual Desktop but while the Streamer is running. I already had "Use virtual audio driver" unchecked in the settings. I can send minidump if it'll help.

Yes, please send me a mini dump (guy@vrdeskrop.net). When the Streamer gets installed, it will set the virtual audio driver as the default audio playback device. Simply re-selecting your original audio device (by clicking the speaker icon in the system tray) should prevent it from being used. I will look into automating this in the next update.

Ok, sent you mindumps. My default audio device is my speakers, streamer isn't even in the list.

I started getting BSOD from vdvad.sys a week ago. I fixed it when I uninstalled Virtual Desktop and removed the audio device via device manager.

You can simply remove the “AudioDriver” folder from Virtual Desktop and remove it from task manager if you experience issues. If anyone can provide a minidump of the BSOD, that would be helpful.

Here are some minidump logs: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1I_NawkwDufFfUG_6sY-FBQzk3W4eUWYY/view?usp=sharing

Hope this helps resolve the issue. It started happening about a week ago I'd say?
