I can't get the virtual keyboard to pop up
Title says it all... how do I activate a keyboard to be able to type in vr with the controllers?

Right-click the taskbar, then click “Enable Touch keyboard button”. A button will appear next to the clock to bring it up.

Rather than make a new topic on the same issue, I am reviving this. I cannot use Windows' Touch Keyboard at all. Nothing I do can bring up the keyboard.

The Quest VR Desktop feels like it has a wider feature set than the PC version, including its own keyboard that works well. Why isn't PCVR receiving this to replace Windows' buggy keyboard that does not work at all for me, even out of VR?

I'm having the same issue as well. No problems the last time I used VD, but all of a sudden the keyboard doesn't pop up, no matter what I do. Kind of a bummer since I don't have a wireless keyboard.

The Windows Touch keyboard has been buggy with the latest Windows 10 updates. I recommend using the on-screen keyboard instead, you have to launch it from the start menu for now but I’ll likely switch to it in a future update and add a binding to bring it up
