VirtualDesktop.Service.exe
Why does this service needs to start at windows boot everytime with administrator rights, even when not using the program ? And why is this service not being removed when uninstalling Virtual Desktop ?

Because capturing the desktop (more specifically the lock screen or UAC prompts) and interacting with high privilege processes requires the process to run elevated. Having the service already running allows this to happen without a UAC prompt every time the app launches. In short, this is needed for Windows security purposes.

It isn’t being uninstalled at the moment because it is needed by both the Dashboard and the main app. However, I could make it uninstall when either one is uninstalled as there is now logic in-place to install it on startup with either app.

Thank you for your answere. I understand it is needed, but it would be much better to remove all files from my PC and definitely not starting them anyway as a service at boot after I have chosen to uninstall the program. btw you gave the same answere at the beginning of the year so please make sure that all is removed. Thanks.

Hey, just checked and uninstalling from Steam does uninstall the Virtual Desktop Service already (when uninstalling the main app or the Dashboard app).

Hi, I also checked and I can confirm it does remove the service when removing the app. Strange that it did not work for me before. Doesn't matter, it works now. Thanks.
