Virtual Desktop Overlay Broken
Playing on a Valve Index. Usually just open the virtual desktop tab, hold B to move and resize the overlay and its all good. Now, holding B only resizes the overlay much bigger or far too small and places it far too close for it too be usable. Seems like it broke within the last few days because this feature has worked for me for months.

SteamVR updates have been breaking the dashboard constantly over the last 2 years, I’m not even surprised a recent SteamVR update broke something else =/ I’ll put this on my list to look into it

I can confirm the same issues on my Index in the last week or so.

i just got my index this week and this app the other day, i cant use my controllers or apply any bindings. Is this linked to their issue?

Are you specifically talking about this app? Or in general? The issue at hand in this thread is described by the OP. It sort of works in that you can launch the VR overlay, but can no longer hold B and position it in the VR space. The interface comes up like a normal steam desktop and when you hold B and try to move it to position, sometimes, depending on where you click, will resize the window right in front of you. Other times it will actually be moving it (although you can't see it moved until you close the steam overlay and then it's large and practically right in your face.

honestly if the overlay worked, i would update my review and recommend this app more readily. A specific desired use case for this, or any other similar app, is I want a tray tool visible as a dashboard item in SteamVR that I can flick to occasionally to manage my desktop as needed. Sometimes it's more convenient to launch a game from desktop steam, sometimes I want to reply to a message without taking off my headset or exiting my current VR game. I also don't want to deal with having stuff like my desktop or certain apps permanently visible in games I'm playing. The steam desktop can kind of do this, kind of, but it updates at such a poor rate and is a highly unpleasant experience in general.

in this use context, it's also important to recognize that you can interact with the overlay / dashboard apps using the soft keyboard that's built into SteamVR. if we can't get a soft keyboard implemented into the desktop version of virtualdesktop, this would be the next best thing.

I have been using Virtual Desktop Overlay for several months and it's been tried and true. Hope this is issue gets resolved so I can continue to enjoy it.

I suppose you haven't found a fix yet? I can't move it. Just resize.
