This weird behavior is because the Dashboard is the same app in Steam (although they are two separate executables) but Steam only allows one to be running at a given time. I’m hoping to find a solution with Valve about this issue.
If you want to quit the Dashboard Overlay, you can manually kill the VirtualDesktop.Dashboard.exe process but like I said, it barely uses any resources when not in use.
Yeah this needs to be fixed. After exiting the app the dashboard in tray disappears but three processes are still running. STILL running. And my malware keeps detecting something it does not like when exiting also. That also needs to be fixed.
Now asuggestion I have is for you to add a function that can allow us to zoom out our 360 videos. Sometimes it is like you are right up close to things in the videos and it can cause some dizziness. If that is possible to add please do so. Thanks.
Zoom and tilt functionalities are being added to the video player.
As for the malware detection, you should disable it; Virtual Desktop simply sends anonymous telemetry on exit (OS Version, Language, error reports). See other threads about this.
(for the record, I would also prefer if VD actually closed when I close it...trying to use concurrently w/ Unity is a nightmare...)
But just to confirm, there is currently no way to close/disable this Dashboard process, other than force-killing it from windows Task Manager?
