Well it depends on the video. Some will play fine with Windows built-in codecs, some require 3rd party codecs (and the k-lite codec pack supports most of them). Make sure the Media feature pack is correctly installed in Windows and a re-installation of the codec pack after that should help.

Got the same problem since a short while. 3D Videos which already played in VD before no longer working. All of them. Deinstalled VD, Reinstalled, Updated Video Drivers, installed K-Lite, Deinstalled K-Lite, Reinstalled. not working anymore.

I've heard that going back to a previous version of the K-Lite codec pack solves the issue.

Did you update Windows recently and are in Europe? If so, you might need to install the latest version of the Media Feature pack.

nope, didnt helped either. at least no reinstall. all "new" versions i find online are for N or KN Versions, which wont work with a normal win 10 pro

I would try the k-lite codec pack from a few versions behind. I set mine to not automatically update and don’t experience any issues. I have version 13.6.0. Other thing you can try is manually run VirtualDesktop.Setup.msi to make sure the Virtual Desktop libraries are properly registered.

this happens in windows 10 every time windos tries to install the creators update.
I've rolled it back twice and each time it fixes it. Codec packs dont fix it, just rolling back to prior to the creators update in windows 10.

chodan9: have you tried to install the Media Feature Pack[support.microsoft.com] (for version 1703) after the Creators Update gets installed? Are you on the ‘N’ edition of Windows?

Trying to pinpoint the issue here. Thanks for your help!

As mentioned above, with every major Windows Update, the media feature pack needs to be updated manually: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3145500/media-feature-pack-list-for-windows-n-editions

October update just got released so folks in Europe will need to install the latest media feature pack.
