Right click the game in your library click properties go to game folder. Right click br2.exe go to the compatibility tab "Change settings for all users" and turn OFF ALL compatibility options, this will not be doable unless you have Admin settings for your PC.
I highly reccommend the latest FSAA mod as it improves compatibility with modern systems.
It will freeze if you leave the menu open too long, as long as youre quick it shouldnt freeze.
There's a really great skin tool that lets you mess with Rayne's skins and I managed to find and DL a huge pack of skins, it can be ran without the FSAA tool and gives you (over a 100...) different skins for Rayne. Let me know if you want it and ill share my zip with everything you need.
heck mine freezes when i win and go to save and some times in the middle of the game i am wondering if it would just be better to buy the disk version and tell steam to remove the broken copy and upload one that is not so they are not gyping people out of their money
Thanks for the offer. I tried using the FSAA mod again but I can't get it to launch when the mod is installed - any suggestions for that? I'd love to be able to play this at the full resoltion of my monitor - 3440x1440...
I need to know what happens when you try to launch it to help. You are launching it from the FSAA mod not the executable, right?
You also have to make sure to install the cutscene fix as well in the mod (I use VLC as player)
You bought an old game and you expect it to work out of the box on modern OS? That's you and Microsoft's fault, not STEAM or the Devs. You can always refund unless you've been playing for over two hours which would mean it isn't actually "broken".
You need to get the FSAA tool and follow the instructions I gave in this post.
The error I get is just the standard 'bloodrayne 2 has stopped working'. I have just been launching from the executable. How do I do launch it from the FSAA mod? I can't see a button or command in the mod to launch the game? I've also now installed the cutscene fix. Thanks again for your help with this...
That's interesting.
Well, FSAA is actually pretty intensive, you do have a graphics card right? Hows your processor? i5? i7?
If it's fairly low end I'd just reccomend running the game without FSAA installed.
Otherwise, when you "hover" over settings in FSAA they often guide you on how to set them. (For example, CPU will tell you to use one less core than you actually have so it doesnt crash)
My rig is fairly high end. I'm running an i7 6700K and a R9 Fury X so power certainly isn't an issue. I'm confident I have the settings right from within the mod but is there a way of actually launching the game from inside the br2fsaaConfig.exe mod? I can't find anything so can't see any other way other than launching from br2.exe which of course brings up the video options were I have to choose one from the default resolutions...
I think I was confusing this with BR1 which has a tool tha runs internally.
You do have to use the original executable to run, that was my mistake.
The goto-method to troubleshoot the tool is to reset all settings to default then disable the more extravagant options (like FSAA) until you can find the culprit.
Ah ok. Interestingly, if I launch from the BR2.exe from within the game folder it fails to launch with the 'Bloodrayne 2 has stopped working' message coming up. However, if I launch if through GOGs Galaxy it will launch however it only displays one quarter for the screen - as if it trying to show my full resolution of 3440x1440 but only the portion of it that fits 1600x1200 that I have to select in the video options before launching...
