For PvP, you'll probably have an advantage, by advantage I mean you'll by more easily geared, but as long as you grind by yourself, you can still have a chance to beat an o opennent.
What I can recommend is if you really want to have fun in PvP is to find someone equally geared.
This game is the only so called "free to play" game I am proud to say it has all the rights to be called "free to play". Honestly, you can reach anything within this game without spending a single cent. All you need is ingame farming.
Yes, you can invest something if you like to "to speed things up", but this game does not force you to spend money on anything at any point in the game.
This game is a true "free to play" game.
It is a true fact that every servers were Pay2Win, but through the past years, the NA server (this one) managed to slowly make the grind available for every players.
Most of the Cash Shop items were untradable on this server before, and on the other - dead - official servers (especially those from EU) they were extremely overpriced.
@YuriCake I'm affraid to say that some MOBAs are less P2W than this game. But this game shouldn't be compared to MOBAs, for some reason.
This game was fundamentally designed to be absolutely P2W as every korean MMOs are.
When the game had was no longer supported by its dev, about the time when this thread was posted GMs were actually trying their hardest to alleviate P2W by making everything in the game accessible, including the cash items.
Now years have gone, said GMs got promoted to devs and they added new and exclusive cash items, removed or nerfed ways to obtain old items and forcing an experience where even if you draw a blurry line for the definition of P2W it's just impossible to defend.
It might look funny if you check the game as it currently stands but context matters.
