Honestly since the graphics change I haven't played like at all, then jumping in for the first time in 6 months the new MMR system threw me into a match against a Rank 1 Plague that murdered our group (who was horrible), as was I.
Also since they still haven't added ultrawide 21:9 support back into this non-e sports title I've stopped giving them my money. They could add it to the game but they use excuses not to. Or at the very least put in black bars so i don't have to change my desktop resolution to 16:9 every time i want to play one game.
Too bad :/ I mean I got 800+ hours in this game, but I've stopped buying the DLC. I think it's time has passed.
It will never be dead so long as people who love games like Eve Online or Rust, where you can psychologically torture people, have a community to call home.
I bought their deluxe pre-order version of Deathgarden, was quite frustrated when they killed that game so quickly and gave up on it, very glad I didn't spend that extra $50 and buy that Gamescom mask I wanted so bad from that german kid now.
I figured they would have done the same for DBD but it's popularity was a fluke because people love the horror genre and you can really troll other people (which some anonymous gamers LOVE), and now they've learned that adding cosmetics to the game there will always be some people who will buy them which will keep them afloat. Problem is you need to release constant bug fixes and updates along with those cosmetics to keep other people happy too.
