Hook Meter bad idea
I think the hook meter for Survivors is a bad idea, the meter is favorable to the Survivor to the detriment of the Killer because the meter takes away Killer strategy and increases Survivor chances of escaping the map, bad idea, taking teeth away from the Killer thus weakening the Killer, not good.

The game is already full of too many rules, which doesn't allow a player to play the game without worrying about this or that or upsetting someone because the game isn't fair and I think the rules are already too complex to the point where you need a class and a textbook just to understand the basics of the game like an ARMY instructional manual.

And now with the introduction of the new meter rule, the game is unbalanced and favors the Survivors and the meter controls the death of Survivors not the Killer. I Killer should be able to decide how it Kills in his world, not the meter.

I think this change will impact Killer play style and tactics and the fun of unpredictability because a Killer had the option to Kill one or all, not the Killer has to chance Survivors around the map the entire game and with the chances that Survivors are given to live in the map is ridiculous.

I think the new hook meter makes the game less of a horror game and more of a generic puzzle game and negatively impacts the actual horror lore of the game, who knows how this will impact future updates, and new content and keeping players engaged over the long run especially since the rules restrict movement, and the only cool changes are eye candy changes like colorful skins, new characters etc.

Since I've played the game over the last two years there have been good changes like introduction of new chapters with lots of cool things, but if the game is evolving into a strictly rule based that stifles even creativity in game play the the dynamics that made the game an awesome game are fading away and it's not longer unique and engaging. I'm disappointed by the hook meter rule, and thanks to this change, the game is now less chaotic, unpredictable, uncertain elements that contributed to the eerie atmosphere of the game; all the new rules create an off-putting steep learning environment that is beginning to favor Survivors too much. I still love the DBD game but with this new hook meter rule, it has reduced appeal by 1 out of 10 points due to imbalance.

I think that Dead by Daylight has done an exceptional job incorporating a diverse range of killers from various horror franchises, each with their distinct style and fanbase. Mocking or undermining the horror elements of these iconic characters would not only do a disservice to the game but also to the rich legacy and history of horror from which they hail.

Characters like Evan MacMillan – Trapper, Philip Ojomo – Wraith, Max Thompson Jr. – Hillbilly, Sally Smithson – Nurse, Michael Myers – Shape, Lisa Sherwood – Hag, Herman Carter – Doctor, Anna – Huntress, Bubba Sawyer – Cannibal, Freddy Krueger – Nightmare, Amanda Young – Pig, Jeffrey Hawk – Clown, Rin Yamaoka – Spirit, Frank, Julie, Susie, Joey – Legion, Adiris – Plague, Danny Johnson - Ghost Face, Demogorgon – Demogorgon, Kazan Yamaoka – Oni, Caleb Quinn – Deathslinger, Pyramid Head – Executioner, Talbot Grimes – Blight, Charlotte & Victor Deshayes – Twins, Ji-Woon Hak – Trickster, Nemesis T-Type – Nemesis, Elliot Spencer – Cenobite, Carmina Mora – Artist, Sadako Yamamura – Onryō, Dredge – Dredge, Albert Wesker – Mastermind, Tarhos Kovács – Knight, Adriana Imai - Skull Merchant, HUX-A7-13 – Singularity, Xenomorph – Xenomorph are rooted deeply in the horror lore, tell them you want to take away their power in the horror Genre. Their menacing presence and ruthless tactics are integral to their characters. To strip them of these elements would be to strip the game of its core identity.

Consider this analogy: Would you ask James Bond to stop being a spy or Sherlock Holmes to stop solving mysteries? Similarly, asking these iconic horror figures to conform to a more 'fair' or 'palatable' gameplay style is contrary to their very essence.

In essence, these killers represent the raw and unpredictable nature of horror. To tamper with that is to tamper with the very fabric of the genre. Dead by Daylight thrives because it respects this balance.

While gameplay experience is essential, it should never come at the cost of diluting the horror elements that make these characters so iconic. If we compromise too much on the horror aspect, we might as well call the game "Giggles by Daybreak" or "Alive till Noon." It's crucial to find that balance, ensuring ev

Peace.

This will do two things. Make low MMR killer players get zero kills and high MMR survivors escape even more. It doesn't fix anything. It's just another poor band aid "fix" from BHVR which is what they've always done to fix player frustrations with the game. I don't "face camp" personally but sometimes there is a benefit to doing it if you've lost lots of gens. It's a valid strategy to trade hook stages. It's been fine for 7 years and the game is getting even more popular each year. I play both sides equally and mid-high MMR and I tend to only play the weaker M1 killers and I get stomped if I don't play dirty. Each match is usually 4 man swf with all meta perks. Sometimes you need to apply a bit of pressure. What if you hook someone and want to then kick a gen and break the pallet? That self unhook meter is probably half way done. Moved to a second floor and you're kicking a gen and breaking stuff.. the mechanic still thinks you're "camping". It's just a bad mechanic that will do more harm than good and I personally just can't be bothered with how silly the game is getting and will probably make this my last update after 3 and half thousand hours. I got my fun but the game is just not the same any more. It lost it's charm probably 2k hours ago.

It's just a result of too many chefs in the kitchen with different conflicting ideas.

Yup, I totally get what you're saying! When they keep adding all these new rules and changes, it just makes the game less fun and more confusing. It feels like they’re just throwing in stuff without thinking about what made the game cool in the first place. It's like they're trying to fix things but are just making them worse, especially for players who don’t use the strong characters. It’s a bummer seeing the game lose its special vibe because they can’t stick to what was working well for so long.

It’s like too many people in the bunch are trying to add their own ideas and cater to appease a demographic or vis a vis that has other ideas about the true nature of Dead by Daylight, maybe the demographic they are placating are the same demographic from "Video Game Society" and since that game is in sundown mode, they moved over to Dead by Daylight to cause the same disaster, who knows, and it’s just messing up the whole game and it's definitely not the same game I purchased, anyway. I'll hold on for a while too and see what happens as there are newer things in the horizon and all a good things eventually come to an end.

Peace.
