Gate regression
As it stands, survivors will 99 gates and this prevents the EGC as well as prevents use of Blood Warden while basically being near identical to just having the gate open.

I think we should consider a small amount of regression for gate's progress over time so it's not as easy of a choice to make.

Just to require somebody being nearby it if they want to completely prevent the EGC from happening.

It was very recently said by one of the prominent BHVR staff on the official forums that the devs have no plans to add gate regression during EGC as a mechanic. I don’t feel like digging up the exact link, but someone else probably will. More survivors die to 99%-ed gates than many other things, so in most cases-they’re unknowingly helping killers anyway.

I see. I'd very much like to see this then because, at least for games I've played and watched, I rarely see survivors flop in such a way.

Thank you for providing the evidence. I'm disappointed because that answer feels very lackluster and equally is a subject I hope they reconsider, but this seems to be just how it is going to be.

Here are some steam points for being so helpful.

Appreciate the points, ty!!! I feel the same about a lot of dev responses regarding other things (the proposed Skull Merchant rework being the biggest contention point for me, ATM)-but yeah, some things they won’t change (or go back on) unless something drastic happens to change their minds, I feel.

It's a shame it has to be that way, but it makes moments like these all the better.

I feel like they would need more significant competition, as it stands most other asymms have been falling through, otherwise it's just going to be a complete restructuring for some reason or another.

Yeah, I’m really crossing my fingers that the other Halloween franchise game announced is an asymm-and that it comes out of the gate swinging on release. Beyond that, I hope that someone somehow manages to resurrect Friday the 13th and add onto it now that the rights situation for that license is finally sorted out, that Identity V (another asymm w/very similar mechanics to DBD-and the same devs behind the now shut-down DBD mobile & Marvel Rivals) makes it onto Steam, and that someone takes inspiration from the likes of VHS and makes a more balanced (and better managed) asymm with a similar aesthetic & gameplay loop. Also that TCM devs get their ♥♥♥♥ together. Because you’re right, DBD desperately NEEDS competition, and the asymm genre as a whole needs variety too.

Considering how many people on this board in particular loathe the vast majority of my posts-I never expected to be one of the people on the receiving end of a statement like this, but I very much appreciate it, ty! I don’t intentionally try to anger people when I post-I just have very strong opinions about some things….

DbD's advantage in licensing and branding is pretty intimidating to compete with.

I think the reason most competitors struggle is they all go for a horror theme, which DbD has on lock way too hard. It's just so hard to argue with "But in DbD you can play as Wesker and kill Nic Cage and did you hear they're getting FNAF?"

There's gotta be other themes you can set 'chasing people around' to besides horror, right? The genre never had to be tied up to horror by default, and I think the mistake is that it's always horror.

I guess there's Identity V, but it feels like DbD players refuse to acknowledge that that game exists, and IDV players are the same way about this one. Maybe that's because you can't get IDV via steam or any 'normal' platform or something.

As for the original topic I've always wanted gates to regress not because I think 99 gates hurt me as killer, but they get me killed in solo queue. I want them to regress because it'll encourage people to just open the damn things more.

I feel the same way... had to go open the door when the killer had terminus and I was injured... gate was 99ed, person that did that decided to run back into the map and do who knows what. I got killed because of it. In fact, no one survived the match because of that gate. If it had just been opened... I would have lived, unsure about the others but perhaps they would have as well. lol

Would've liked this mechanic survivor side.
