I'd think it'd be really cool to have a killer that requires 3 hits to down, but be much stronger in other categories than the other kills.
I've always wanted/dreaded a killer with a ranged ability, just becuase it would switch the dynamic of the game a ton. I've always thought a Roadhog from Overwatch type charecter fits perfectly thematically into the game, but would need a serious downside to balance its range. I love the idea of a short-range shotgun charecter as a counterpart to something like Roadhog, with the benefit of range at the cost of slower movespeed (which is the primary advantage killers have over survivors).
I dont quite see what you are going for with the Bloodletter, as right now it just seems like a straight up better killer than the rest with no downside (I guess he has no unique ability though?). Having a killer that would essentially intsta-kill when he got near you wouldnt offer much counterplay without having some serious downside(s).
Good post, always nice to have some speculation and theorycrafting of possible new killers.
I liked the little Roadhog reference you gave for the Raider and I liked that you thought the Sprinter was cool.
Maybe a good balance for the Bloodletter would be to remove one of the hooks so that he attacks with a normal two shot kill, and make him the same speed as the survivors - except he gives off no heartbeat. This would make it so that he can't catch up to the survivors if they try to run, although they won't necessarily get away from him either. He isn't meant to be played the way the other characters are - he's very high skill / high reward. If you play him right (sneaky and/or stealthily) then you can sneak up on people and take them down. If you get someone down, then you can pop your unique ability, transport them to the nearest hook, and be on your way to go and hunt other prey. Maybe that isn't a good balance for him, but having a stealthy killer would be awesome, and I don't count the Wraith as stealthy because in the end he still has to ring those great big bells and make himself seen.
I dunno. Maybe just reply what you thought, and if it still seems out of balance then maybe we can come up with a character that is better than the Bloodletter.
P:S: You might have been confused but Bloodletter's unique ability is that when an enemy is downed he uses it on them and they instantly get put on the nearest hook so that the Bloodletter can keep on hunting.
The Zombie - Active digs himself (and any survivors he's carrying) into the ground to emerge in the cellar. All people /killed/ (not sacrificed) come back as zombies, ruthlessly hunting previous teammates.
The Tall Man - Slender Man themed visually, normal rules for engage/mobility/attacks/hooks.
Active ability teleports him to where he's looking at. Over a wall, through a window, across the map, etc. Cannot climb through windows, however. His field of view is much higher up too.
The Hunter - Similar to the Trapper, though instead of a set of bear traps, uses a rock salt shotgun. Activating the ability (shotgun) is him pulling back the firing pin in a distinctive clicking sound before the rooty tooty point and shooty does the rest of the work, injuring but not killing any in its short range path.
The End - A set of tombstone golems splayed across the map. Each is always standing, but activating the ability cycles control between them at /any/ time, such as mid-vault through windows to block them, next to a generator/hooked survivor to block it/them. The indicator that they're controlled is a purple aura and white pupils in the golems faces. Lifeless ones actually look it. Shifting control while a player is held starts up a unique hook sequence, but does not count towards their hookings limit. If successful, the golem dies with the sacrifice.
I think the raider's charge plus weapon range could be easily abused, and having a gun wielding killer could dull the "right on your heels" chase that I think makes this game spectacular. However if balanced properly, some kind of shooting villain may be cool
The Weeper is definitely a cool idea, but I can see it being an interesting addition to the game if copyright doesn't block it
The Mimic has the same ability I was thinking about giving my clown character, but it just didn't quite fit. I really love the disguise idea for a killer, as a "survivor" they can crouch and sprint and walk and interact with only generators (no throwing down boards, can be abused by undisguising and destroying them) but the generators won't progress by the killers interaction. The Mimic cant hold any items either
The zombie idea is pretty awesome too, it would give dead people a second chance and allow them to earn blood points from the killers side. The zombie would have no ability except the basic attack.(This is a disadvantage until your numbers grow) and every zombie can see each other like they can see generators (for teamwork, they can't talk but maybe a zombie moans loudly when they see a survivor, so other zombies know he's found food?) Not sure how hooks fit into this one, maybe they keep the same mechanics and after the claws take you you respawn in basement
Slender man is Dead by Daylight would be cool. As long as teleporting wasn't too far and the killer had to see the spot on he was teleporting (like reaper's shadowstep), I think it would be a balanced ability as a lot of sight lines are blocked in the maps. Also would be cool if the heartbeat was replaced with the static on the screen like in the game, but this would blind survivors so mor balancing may be needed
The End golems would be cool too, but it could be abused by stationing one at each generator. So maybe only like 3 golems? Four could be too many at end game when only 3 or 4 generators are still broken. Also switching golems should take a few seconds at least. I'm not sure about the "special sacrifice" you mentioned, I think it should just drop the survivor if they struggle at that point.
I saw another post about an idea that was called "the widow" here http://steamcommunity.com/app/381210/discussions/0/358415103480207047/
I like the idea of putting down children that are the height of a crouched survivor who wander the map. (Hard to see in grass) Limit the children to 4 or 5, maybe 6 (maps are big) and each time a new child is placed after that, one dies. The child would scream when close enough to a survivor, or in its sight line, or both. This would have an indicator pop up in the killers view (and scare the ♥♥♥♥ out of the survivors)
I really hope the devs check these ideas out and implement some in the game, as well as killer skins/outfits
Witch/Banshee: Someone else had this idea already posted under the name Siren, and I liked their ability idea and thought I would repost and elaborate. Basically her m2 screams in an AOE, and people around would have their sound muted, so it becomes hard to hear the heart beat for short while. My original idea was that she could possess a survivor and control them and attack friends, but that would get really complicated. However, what might work better is that instead of carrying a survivor, she possesses them (vanishing), and they hoist themselves onto the hook. They "wiggle" mentally free, groaning and such the same. When she attacks, she shrieks. She'd probably have a normal carving knife.
Clown: I mean come on, this has to be in the works. If not, make it a skin for the Chainsaw guy. (also, the trapper should have a skin of a butcher with an apron and meat cleaver and such). Anyway, clown laughs hysterically when he attacks. Maybe has a whip or a machete. His ability could be where he sets up pop out traps on windows or something, that fear/knock down a victim momentarily (think like those wooden panels of a silhouette that flip up in gun ranges). Or if you guys can think of something better or more thematic, that's about all I can think of.
I really like the idea of a killer with no heart beat.
I also think it would be cool to have a killer that would kill with some sort of mummification tools, like what they would use to mummify people, his M2 could be like he could wrap up downed people and they couldn't move, (maybe slowly suffocate) but could wriggle free with some time or get saved, but it would take three hits to down and maybe have a shorter range of attack, but be a small bit faster then the average killer. It would be cool if he could be a bit shorter and skinny (like his stomach look like it has no food in it, and be able to see his ribs, not like the bones but the way some one really skinny looks like, with thin skin covering where his ribs would be) what do you guys think of these ideas?
I like the zombie idea but some would abuse this, kill them selves on purpose to become a zombie
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT MY IDEA AND HOW CAN I IMPROVE IT ALSOW HELP ME GIVE THIS KILLER A NAME.(P.S sory if i made any tiping mistakes english is not my main language)
He carrys a hunting rifel as his main which is scoped and a bolt action. He also carrys a skinning knife. The hunting rifel would be and instant down if hit in the torso or head but simply wound you if you were hit in a limb. the rifel being a bolt action would be balenced by always having to do the bolt action and reload after five shots. You would not be able to attack in melee with the knife instead you would be using it to kill enemies on the ground. This would be balenced by having the same mechanics as a genarator with skill checks. In this time teammates could come and save the victim being skined pushing the killer over and running away. the killer would also be dressed in camo.
The shapeshifter
This killer can turn into survivors (fine, wounded, on hooks crawling.) genarators chests hooks the hatch along with the parts of the map so small trees boxes tires and other parts.
It uses claws on it's right hand and it's left hand which is completely normal.
The left hand touches objects it can then find a place to shapeshift into that object so he has to touch something to transform into it. Its claw acts simply as a regular melee weapon. this would also take away your HUD in the bottom keft of your screen ounce the killer shapeshifts into a player.
The Screecher
This killer is fairly OP if you don't know how to handle it. It is extremely fast and cand run survivors down in a few seconds. It can instantly down you withit's special where it pounces on you from crazy distance that has a long cool down time. It doesn't do an animation after a hit like all other killers. their is now running from it. it hunts like a hawk on movement it can see the smalles movement from long distances. the players flash white when moving if they are in his line of site. You need to stay low and move extremely slowley to hide. It has one weakness... The light this creature is not a killer it is an apex predator you need light to survive torches do not only blind it but burn it. the more it is burnt the slower it get. it will begin to slow down to the point where it is cute how slow it is. it loses it's pounce ability and it's movement vission. the same rules apply to all light sorces like above genarators barrels and near the gate. the light is your only chance. the player also loses control for periods of time after every burn the time of losing control is extended.
