Dead by Daylight Killer Ideas
Hey, just wondering what you might think of some new ideas for Killers? Post your own ideas in the comments.

I'm in the process of re-organizing everything.

The Sprinter:

Appearance:
Looks like a bandaged man, sort of like a mummy, but he is wearing some tattered rags over the bandages. When he walks, he hunches over.

Weapon:
A Serrated Knife which after using he cleans off with his fingers. The knife is a three hit kill.

Ability:
Flurry. With this ability, the Sprinter suddenly stops and stabs his knife five times quickly in a row. If he tags you with any of those five times, it will do a hit of damage, and it does one for every time he hits you - even if you are at full health, if he gets you three out of those five times, you go down.

Perks:
The Terror: The Sprinter runs much faster than the other killers, and even though the other killers are still faster than the survivors, the Sprinter is so much faster that it isn't even a joke. He moves at around triple the speed of a survivor.
Vaulter: The Sprinter can't be window cheated because he moves through windows at the same speed as a survivor, and unlike other killers, he doesn't need to destroy blocks and can simply slide over them, same as the killers.
Quickly, Now: When he is holding a survivor, it takes longer for them to wiggle out of his hands.

The Raider:

Appearance:
A man wearing all leather (imagine Mad Max), with a grotesque and melted/crushed face, and glowing yellow eyes.

Weapon:
A pump-action, twelve gauss shotgun. After every shot he needs to rechamber the gun, and it two-hits all survivors, but it has at least eight times the range of any other weapon, and rechambering/pumping the shotgun is much faster than cleaning blood off a blade.

Ability:
CHARGE: For about two seconds the Raider gets a massive speed boost, moving at around the same speed as the Sprinter, but the M2 needs to recharge and the Raider cannot fire his shotgun or attack whilst charging.

Perks:
Blood-lustful: The Raider starts off as slower than other survivors, which is a massive downside, but with every survivor he downs (not hooks, but downs) he gains a small speed boost. One down will put him at survivor speed - three downs will put him at normal killer speed, and he only get's faster from there.
Wreckage: He can destroy blocks just by shooting them.
Twin Kings: The shotgun has a specialized hitbox/spray output, so on some rare occasions he can hit two or even more than two people with a single shot., because if only one of the spray makes contact it counts as a hit, meaning that other spray can go anywhere.

The Bloodletter: The Bloodletter is the servant of darkness, the messenger from hell. He prowls the map with twin meat hooks, which can each be used with a different button, and each deal a two hit kill - he will play mostly the same for the average player, but a skilled one can use him to instant down the survivors. His ability can be considered both underpowered and overpowered - he can only use it on downed people, but when he does it immediately transports them onto the nearest hook, or perhaps it immediately transports them onto a hook in the dungeon. Whatever the case, it allows him to serve his dark master easier as he hooks his way around.

UPDATE (NEW IDEAS):

The Fisherman: The second slowest killer, just faster than the Raider, the Fisherman uses a whip with a bait hook at the end to strike his opponents at increased range, the Fisherman's special ability lets him bring out a massive harpoon launcher which has two uses - firstly, striking any survivor with it will deal a hit of damage, so two harpoons will down a survivor, and secondly shooting a downed survivor with the harpoon will cause said survivor to be reeled into the Fisherman, meaning that when you are downed, nowhere is safe.

The Engineer: A more basic killer stat wise, the engineer uses a tenon saw to strike his targets, dealing a hit of damage for a two-hit kill. His special ability makes him a rather unorthodox killer, as instead of helping take down other survivors, it simply makes it easier for him to catch his targets. This is because his power is the ability to cover up windows so survivors cannot vault through them, and it also allows for him to stop survivors from pulling down blocks in his face because he can destroy them as well.

The Mechanic: Similar to the Engineer concept wise, the Mechanic uses a bladed wrench to take down survivors, but his ability perhaps makes him an especially powerful killer - whenever he finds an unfinished generator, he can work on it, making the generator progress go backwards. This is not an instant process, but rather works the same way that a survivor would up the progress - it slowly goes down as the Engineer works on it, and failing the quicktime events makes it go up a bit again.

The Hunter: Finally, the Hunter is a very strange killer. His weapon of choice is a machete to slice your head with, but his ability is very different to what you would think. Rather than pulling out a sniper rifle or something, he instead pulls out an iPad that covers the screen, highlighting the area that the pad covers in thermal vision, allowing for survivors to easily be picked up. This has a few downsides - he moves very slow while holding the pad, he cannot attack while holding the pad, and both entering and exiting pad vision requires a lengthy animation.

So what did you think? Comment if you think they are good or could use improvements, and please tell me any ideas that you have - I love this kind of stuff.

Peace out

Really like the idea of the Sprinter and the Raider:

I'd think it'd be really cool to have a killer that requires 3 hits to down, but be much stronger in other categories than the other kills.

I've always wanted/dreaded a killer with a ranged ability, just becuase it would switch the dynamic of the game a ton. I've always thought a Roadhog from Overwatch type charecter fits perfectly thematically into the game, but would need a serious downside to balance its range. I love the idea of a short-range shotgun charecter as a counterpart to something like Roadhog, with the benefit of range at the cost of slower movespeed (which is the primary advantage killers have over survivors).

I dont quite see what you are going for with the Bloodletter, as right now it just seems like a straight up better killer than the rest with no downside (I guess he has no unique ability though?). Having a killer that would essentially intsta-kill when he got near you wouldnt offer much counterplay without having some serious downside(s).

Good post, always nice to have some speculation and theorycrafting of possible new killers.

@Juggernaunt57 Thanks for the feedback, it's nice to see that some people care about this the same way that I do.

I liked the little Roadhog reference you gave for the Raider and I liked that you thought the Sprinter was cool.

Maybe a good balance for the Bloodletter would be to remove one of the hooks so that he attacks with a normal two shot kill, and make him the same speed as the survivors - except he gives off no heartbeat. This would make it so that he can't catch up to the survivors if they try to run, although they won't necessarily get away from him either. He isn't meant to be played the way the other characters are - he's very high skill / high reward. If you play him right (sneaky and/or stealthily) then you can sneak up on people and take them down. If you get someone down, then you can pop your unique ability, transport them to the nearest hook, and be on your way to go and hunt other prey. Maybe that isn't a good balance for him, but having a stealthy killer would be awesome, and I don't count the Wraith as stealthy because in the end he still has to ring those great big bells and make himself seen.

I dunno. Maybe just reply what you thought, and if it still seems out of balance then maybe we can come up with a character that is better than the Bloodletter.

P:S: You might have been confused but Bloodletter's unique ability is that when an enemy is downed he uses it on them and they instantly get put on the nearest hook so that the Bloodletter can keep on hunting.

Hi
Prof Grizwald Jun 29, 2016 @ 1:04pm
I had the idea of "The Weeper". As a homage to the Weeping Angels in Doctor Who, you can't move when seen by survivors, but when you aren't seen, you can put down decoys to trick the survivors into to looking away from you. you do one hit down from behind. you are blinded when downed since The Weeper can't move when you see it. You move very fast when not seen.

The Mimic - Specializes in transforming into survivors, luring them together, then surprising them as he bursts out of his disguise. Looks like a tall, pale lanky dude (With a chest for a head perhaps?) when undisguised.

The Zombie - Active digs himself (and any survivors he's carrying) into the ground to emerge in the cellar. All people /killed/ (not sacrificed) come back as zombies, ruthlessly hunting previous teammates.

The Tall Man - Slender Man themed visually, normal rules for engage/mobility/attacks/hooks.
Active ability teleports him to where he's looking at. Over a wall, through a window, across the map, etc. Cannot climb through windows, however. His field of view is much higher up too.

The Hunter - Similar to the Trapper, though instead of a set of bear traps, uses a rock salt shotgun. Activating the ability (shotgun) is him pulling back the firing pin in a distinctive clicking sound before the rooty tooty point and shooty does the rest of the work, injuring but not killing any in its short range path.

The End - A set of tombstone golems splayed across the map. Each is always standing, but activating the ability cycles control between them at /any/ time, such as mid-vault through windows to block them, next to a generator/hooked survivor to block it/them. The indicator that they're controlled is a purple aura and white pupils in the golems faces. Lifeless ones actually look it. Shifting control while a player is held starts up a unique hook sequence, but does not count towards their hookings limit. If successful, the golem dies with the sacrifice.

I like the idea of "the Sprinter" being able to move as fast as the survivors' running speed but with a 3 hit kill. However I think the name is a little boring, and I think it would be awesome if there was a clown killer added, but can't think of any special ability for him. So perhaps there could be a clown themed killer who wields a smaller knife causing the 3 hit kill? It would be awesome if he laughed while using his ability.

I think the raider's charge plus weapon range could be easily abused, and having a gun wielding killer could dull the "right on your heels" chase that I think makes this game spectacular. However if balanced properly, some kind of shooting villain may be cool

The Weeper is definitely a cool idea, but I can see it being an interesting addition to the game if copyright doesn't block it

The Mimic has the same ability I was thinking about giving my clown character, but it just didn't quite fit. I really love the disguise idea for a killer, as a "survivor" they can crouch and sprint and walk and interact with only generators (no throwing down boards, can be abused by undisguising and destroying them) but the generators won't progress by the killers interaction. The Mimic cant hold any items either

The zombie idea is pretty awesome too, it would give dead people a second chance and allow them to earn blood points from the killers side. The zombie would have no ability except the basic attack.(This is a disadvantage until your numbers grow) and every zombie can see each other like they can see generators (for teamwork, they can't talk but maybe a zombie moans loudly when they see a survivor, so other zombies know he's found food?) Not sure how hooks fit into this one, maybe they keep the same mechanics and after the claws take you you respawn in basement

Slender man is Dead by Daylight would be cool. As long as teleporting wasn't too far and the killer had to see the spot on he was teleporting (like reaper's shadowstep), I think it would be a balanced ability as a lot of sight lines are blocked in the maps. Also would be cool if the heartbeat was replaced with the static on the screen like in the game, but this would blind survivors so mor balancing may be needed

The End golems would be cool too, but it could be abused by stationing one at each generator. So maybe only like 3 golems? Four could be too many at end game when only 3 or 4 generators are still broken. Also switching golems should take a few seconds at least. I'm not sure about the "special sacrifice" you mentioned, I think it should just drop the survivor if they struggle at that point.

I saw another post about an idea that was called "the widow" here http://steamcommunity.com/app/381210/discussions/0/358415103480207047/
I like the idea of putting down children that are the height of a crouched survivor who wander the map. (Hard to see in grass) Limit the children to 4 or 5, maybe 6 (maps are big) and each time a new child is placed after that, one dies. The child would scream when close enough to a survivor, or in its sight line, or both. This would have an indicator pop up in the killers view (and scare the ♥♥♥♥ out of the survivors)

I really hope the devs check these ideas out and implement some in the game, as well as killer skins/outfits

The Gunner: has an shotgun which instadowns survivors when he shoots them, there is no cooldown and has a fast deploying and reloading speeds, it has 8 rounds and you can refill it at ammo boxes next to the hooks, he also can break into a sprint as his M2 from his army training, and he is still in full control while sprinting unlike the hillbilly, he also has a tactical visor which can reveal the survivor's body heat within a 64 meter radius, revealing their auras

Poltergeist is a tiny girl like from the grudge or any horror movie. Her item she holds could be a doll. I imagine she's singing and giggling or something like that. She's really short, which makes it hard to see her. Her m2 ability could be Apparition, where she creates a harmless clone or hologram of herself that either seeks out people or just stands there, maybe you guys have a better idea (imagine setting an apparition on one side and chasing a victim through the other, he would stop and be cornered, not sure which is real). Instead of carrying a victim to a hook, she holds their hand and skips along with them, while they are in a hypnotized state. They jump and hook themselves, or telekinesis throws them onto the hook. They can mentally "wiggle" free, groaning while doing so. Not entirely sure what happens in her attack animation, but she could giggle or shriek when doing so.

Witch/Banshee: Someone else had this idea already posted under the name Siren, and I liked their ability idea and thought I would repost and elaborate. Basically her m2 screams in an AOE, and people around would have their sound muted, so it becomes hard to hear the heart beat for short while. My original idea was that she could possess a survivor and control them and attack friends, but that would get really complicated. However, what might work better is that instead of carrying a survivor, she possesses them (vanishing), and they hoist themselves onto the hook. They "wiggle" mentally free, groaning and such the same. When she attacks, she shrieks. She'd probably have a normal carving knife.

Clown: I mean come on, this has to be in the works. If not, make it a skin for the Chainsaw guy. (also, the trapper should have a skin of a butcher with an apron and meat cleaver and such). Anyway, clown laughs hysterically when he attacks. Maybe has a whip or a machete. His ability could be where he sets up pop out traps on windows or something, that fear/knock down a victim momentarily (think like those wooden panels of a silhouette that flip up in gun ranges). Or if you guys can think of something better or more thematic, that's about all I can think of.

weeping angels.

There should be one where he has a hound as his/her right click but it has a cool down, the hound should be faster then the killer not be able to vault windows or barricades and can sniff survivors in a radius around the killer

I really like the idea of a killer with no heart beat.

I also think it would be cool to have a killer that would kill with some sort of mummification tools, like what they would use to mummify people, his M2 could be like he could wrap up downed people and they couldn't move, (maybe slowly suffocate) but could wriggle free with some time or get saved, but it would take three hits to down and maybe have a shorter range of attack, but be a small bit faster then the average killer. It would be cool if he could be a bit shorter and skinny (like his stomach look like it has no food in it, and be able to see his ribs, not like the bones but the way some one really skinny looks like, with thin skin covering where his ribs would be) what do you guys think of these ideas?

I like the zombie idea but some would abuse this, kill them selves on purpose to become a zombie

To Bronn the killer is already faster then the survivors at a walking speed but i think I get what you mean

GHost i feel like you got the bloodbottler from the BFG xD
Wulfos Jul 14, 2016 @ 12:15pm
I dont think it would be right to just copy paste my idea but u could easily go and look at it there. its called= New Killer Idea!!(Wulfos Edition)
Mr. KuKy Jul 21, 2016 @ 1:43am
I alsow have an ideea for a ranged killer:His weapon is a spear that has 1.5x the range of a normal weapon, his special ability lets him trow the spear,if it hits a survivor it downs them imediatly but if it misses it gets stuck on the ground/tree/building/etc. and depending on the surface that it got stuck on it takes longer to pull it out.And as a downside to this killer because i can't think of another one besides lower speed whitch i don't really like he would be unable to atack until he gets his spear back.
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT MY IDEA AND HOW CAN I IMPROVE IT ALSOW HELP ME GIVE THIS KILLER A NAME.(P.S sory if i made any tiping mistakes english is not my main language)
bungalungmckinnon Jul 29, 2016 @ 11:21pm
I was thinking of maybe the hunter/the poacher.
He carrys a hunting rifel as his main which is scoped and a bolt action. He also carrys a skinning knife. The hunting rifel would be and instant down if hit in the torso or head but simply wound you if you were hit in a limb. the rifel being a bolt action would be balenced by always having to do the bolt action and reload after five shots. You would not be able to attack in melee with the knife instead you would be using it to kill enemies on the ground. This would be balenced by having the same mechanics as a genarator with skill checks. In this time teammates could come and save the victim being skined pushing the killer over and running away. the killer would also be dressed in camo.

The shapeshifter
This killer can turn into survivors (fine, wounded, on hooks crawling.) genarators chests hooks the hatch along with the parts of the map so small trees boxes tires and other parts.
It uses claws on it's right hand and it's left hand which is completely normal.
The left hand touches objects it can then find a place to shapeshift into that object so he has to touch something to transform into it. Its claw acts simply as a regular melee weapon. this would also take away your HUD in the bottom keft of your screen ounce the killer shapeshifts into a player.

The Screecher
This killer is fairly OP if you don't know how to handle it. It is extremely fast and cand run survivors down in a few seconds. It can instantly down you withit's special where it pounces on you from crazy distance that has a long cool down time. It doesn't do an animation after a hit like all other killers. their is now running from it. it hunts like a hawk on movement it can see the smalles movement from long distances. the players flash white when moving if they are in his line of site. You need to stay low and move extremely slowley to hide. It has one weakness... The light this creature is not a killer it is an apex predator you need light to survive torches do not only blind it but burn it. the more it is burnt the slower it get. it will begin to slow down to the point where it is cute how slow it is. it loses it's pounce ability and it's movement vission. the same rules apply to all light sorces like above genarators barrels and near the gate. the light is your only chance. the player also loses control for periods of time after every burn the time of losing control is extended.
