3rd Person View for Killers
I know, I know, the usual response across the internet is "we need to limit the vision of the killer so... no" but please, consider this:

3rd person mode is an integral feature that more games need to implement in general in order for people with motion sickness to have a chance playing games we FPV players take for granted. I play games with a group of 10 people daily and we make decisions of which games we will collectively purchase based on a set of expectations, the biggest one is whether 3rd person view is available. One of our players is sensitive to FPV so when a game such as DbD doesn't have it, the ten of us generally don't buy and play the game, that's 10 people that aren't part of the community and I know we're not the only large groups of people making these decisions on such a simple to implement feature.

"But what about the game being fair?" I hear you ask through methods I'm not willing to discuss. In my opinion, if a game relies on limiting a player's visibility or other experience alteration (including screen sharking, color changes, etc) there should always be alternatives you can choose if you are unable to play the game because of them. In DbD this would be easy, just compress the killer's screen to a 4:3 aspect ratio, black bars on the sides, as an alternative to FPV. Alternatively leave the ratio and add a fuzzy overlay so that part of the screen becomes useless and they don't receive an advantage. Camera issues like looking around corners only occur when developers don't properly control the way a camera sits over the shoulder, but a bit of tweaking can counter that method quite easily. Hell, the fuzzy screen borders would counter that advantage too.

And for everyone who doesn't trust those game design alternatives, it'd be great if we could choose whether to join players with those feature changes, or make those features available for private games with friends only. Strangers on the internet can be nasty power players but our friends care about everyone having fun, which is the reason why we generally decide as a group whether we'll invest time, money and support into a game and its community.

I hope the developers reconsider this brash and, to my perspective, un-supportive decision to force people to limit their potential experiences. Poor decisions like that are what cause game communities to rapidly die out. And nobody wants that.

This game is about to celebrate its 6th anniversary and has had 1st person tunnel vision for Killers since before it even released. If that's your main argument to implement a difficult-to-balance 3rd person camera, it's not a good one.

It may work out for certain killers like pig's dash or trapper or chasing people down with m1, but could you imagine trying to play gunslinger, huntress, nemesis, twins, nurse, anything that kind of needs that first person view for aiming purposes? And with how often hitboxes like to go towards objects like boxes or wall corners during loops, that would just be hell.

Due to the height difference between killer and survivor, and where the camera would need to be place to balance it it'd be a terrible idea. Everyone tryharding on killer would run it to see over loops first person views never would have been able to amongst other possible issues it brings

Every one of you missed my point completely, well done. As I said, if you allowed people to opt-in to over the shoulder mode you'd get a lot more people willing to buy and play the game. You don't need to balance it if it's a mod option that WE opt in to. We'd like that power as players of our games, these are not reasons to not implement a function, they're excuses to not allow this decision in main lobbies. As I said, that's fine, but it's still stupid to not have that as an accessibility option for people who can't play first person shooters.

From what i can tell by your achievements you have very little playtime, or not playtime at all. Given that its understandable that you might think a change like this wouldn't completely and totally cripple how the game functions.

The game was designed from the ground up with Killers not being able to see third person. They would have to overhaul a significant portion of the game just to implement a feature like this (Especially if it was an optional feature like you suggest).

One of the main tools survivors have to use against a killer is their ability to just barely see over walls to "juke" the killer by changing the direction they are running in relation to the direction the killer is running, and because the killer doesn't have the same information this often times can work in the survivors favor and gain them precious few seconds worth of distance in a chase.

If you were to give killers a 3rd person camera the camera would need to be pretty high off of the ground (Boon: Bong Rip mentioned this). The biggest issue here isn't that the killers would be able to see over walls like how survivors can, but that they would have better vision over walls due to the higher height of the camera, nullifying the advantage that survivors rely on in chases. In some cases the killer would be able to see over walls that the survivor can't and that would be a massive problem.

You suggest changing the aspect ratio and adding black bars to the sides of the screen to off-set this advantage, but players were already doing that by manually changing the game files and it caused some huge problems, so much so that the Devs had to step in and find a way to fix it so that players couldn't do that any more.

"You don't need to balance it if it's a mod option that WE opt in to" I guarantee you that anyone who cares even the slightest bit about having a fair match isn't going to want to opt into this sort of option. Maybe, MAYBE if you were asking for this to be exclusive to custom matches with friends, without ever being implemented into the base matchmaking (even as an opt in option), then maybe I could understand where you are coming from, but as it is you are asking for something that would break the game without understanding the consequences that would come from it.
