Dead by Daylight

Why Dead by Daylight isn't scary.
Here's my thesis, there are many fear factors that DBD isn't working on anymore. Have you ever wondered why you were terrified at first when you started playing, and now you can just bully the one who was supposed to be the layer of fear. Here's the explanation.

This also features an "Balls of steel" gamemode suggestion.

Fear Factor n1 : Fear of the Unknown.

As of known we have proxy ten killers in Dead by Daylight. We know their mechanic, we know the way to counter them, we don't fear them. Yet, among those 10 killers, there's one that always is pretty darn scary and oppressive to survivors. Michael Myers at tier 1. And why is that ? Fear of the Unknown, you don't know what's coming for you.

Hence, in this sense, the Heartbeat is killing the stress when you're experienced enough. Hearing the heartbeat would almost make you feel okay, since you know the killer is getting nearby, so all you have to do is hide/run/palletloop.

In the sense of a really scary gamemode, there shouldn't be a heartbeat, just the sounds and footsteps of the killer. Welcome jumpscare and oppresivity !

Fear Factor n2 : the Ambiance

We got used to Dead by Daylight's music, the chase soundtrack has become lame, and plainly unterrifying. Even MM's music's become that way. Crows cawing as well, that is not scary. The music plays a good role into the fear factor, and the key to mastering the soundtrack is to know how to use Silence.

Refer to dead Silence, and you'll understand what I mean.

In the concept of a really scary gamemode, the music must be either nullified, either changed.

Fear Factor n3 : Fear of Malice

Dead by Daylight's killers are plain brutes. Just some dorks swinging blades hammers and spines trying to aim helplessly for running rabbits. Your killers are dumb. And that's the worst thing. And guess what ladies and gentlemen, the most human killer is MM, followed by the Doctor. One if the scariest killer to play against, the other has the most sick design.

Make your killers clever, I'm not talking about the players, but the way your characters are. This was slightly enhanced by the auto aim thingy.

In the sense of a really scary gamemode, there should be only killers that seem and are clever. Not just plain nags.

Fear Factor n4 : Fear of Helplessness

When has a survivor ever felt desesperate ? Quite never, since the insta heals and flashlights are here to save the day. They feel safe, for they are equipped. Being able to resist the killer is something that lowers the fear. Simply because you feel like you have power and in that sense you do have power against the killer.

Delete the items, and the feeling of safety is gone.

In the sense of a really scary gamemode, there won't be pallets, nor flashlights, nor healing items. But, there would be at least 6 survivors. The more the fools the harder the laughs.

I partially agree. I feel like stealth options for killers are far too weak and kill the ambiance on the survivor side. However, it's also clear that newbie survivors do not know what to do or how to handle a stealth killer so I propose we fix this problem by changing a perk already in the game. Beast of Prey is a Huntress perk that is suppose to help stealth around in a chase but it's far too weak and limited to be something you would see enter into people's build choices. Instead, I'd have it proc as it does right now, 15 seconds into a chase. However, once it procs it stays procced for the duration of the chase however long it is and it also hides your terror radius for the duration in addition to hiding your red stain. This shouldn't effect the newbies too hard since you would still have a terror radius outside of chases and during the start of one.
You can't expect people to fear something they get used to.
Btw most killers are actually smart, look at the Trapper and the Hag (methodic and strategic), the Hillbilly (look at Tinkerer's description) etc. Probably Myers is the dumbest of all, since according to his lore he is just a killing machine fueled by pure evil.

That doesn't mean he's dumb. You can be an evil madafaka good only for killing and be good at it.

And the others look physicly dumb, doesn't mean they are, but they seem to be. Which kills the fun.

Have you watched the original movie? He is really dumb.
As for the others' look I guess it's personal. To me they don't seem dumb.

I still must watch Halloween, it's on my to do list, but I never respect my to do list.

I guess I'm not being quite understood. These killers look like beasts and they act as such, it's not scary to me. Humanly looking and overall conscious killers though, like MM and Doctor are scariest cuz they're conscious, or at least they seem to be.

And yet he is smart enough to know how to drive a car after escaping

You don't need to be smart to drive a car.

I strongly agree with that, he's sneaky and mischievous. That's also part of what makes him creepy.

The others aren't that way, they're more brutal and less refined.
Feels like a feast for the killer rather than a gamemode :D Come on, at least give them pallets lol

NO.

SURVIVORS.MUST.PAY.
Here is my explanation:

Almost everything and everyone in DBD is predictable.

The only scary moments I have are triggering hag traps when I don't expect the hag.
Strong FX sound scares the hell out of me.

why dead by daylight is not scary? because you can see the killer from 70 meters away

and they removed the mist, i think they should make the terror radious smaller, add mist, and IN MY OPINION, it should be like the dreamworld, always. to everyone, maybe a little bit more view, but you get my idea.

No way the dreamworld isn't spooky and it hurts my eyes like ♥♥♥♥.
