Tunneling is okay.
I know people hate tunneling but they got to admit it's a way to win and you can not hate the player for using what will help them win.

The developers know about tunneling and have not changed the game to stop it so by the rules of the game, it's fine.

I know survivors don't like it, but survivors do a lot of tricky stuff that killers don't like.

Full teams of flash lights, tea bagging exit gates, teaming up on a single gen to make it go faster, taunting with the hand waves and end game toxic chat always complaining the killer played unfairly not to mention that medic kit that essentially takes away all the progress the killer made oh and let's not forget crawling under a pallet.

But it's not about tunneling or flash lights, it's about your skill as a player. If I tunnel you and I get you on the hook that is not my fault but yours.

I have played against some very good players that have beaten me hands down. i win a lot of games but there is really skilled players out there who know the map so well it's basically impossible to get even one of them on a hook despite tunneling.

So long story short stop complaining about how killers play and start rethinking how YOU are playing.

I know your visually pleasing character is awesome! But to me it's a big target!
I know you love to taunt and tea bag but you give me more time to hook you in doing so!

It's not my fault or any other killers fault for you ending up on a hook but your own lack of skill and willingness to improve. It's EASY to scream TUNNELING!!!! So you don't have to do any work to get better at the game like all the other actually skilled players have.

Ironic ending, considering your overreliance on tunneling as a strategy is keeping you from improving as well. There's a time and place for it, but if it's your go-to every single game how exactly are *you* working to improve your map presence, gen control, and chase ability?

I will say though, a lot of survivors are extremely dumb about timing their unhooks and I will absolutely turn around to go back to the hook and chase the other person.

It's okay to leave someone hanging for a bit if the killer is lingering around and proxy camping. Rush those gens. Punish them.

Killer just walked away? Give them a bit to find another survivor and get into a chase. The hooked survivor can wait a bit.

The real question is why do we blame the players for unfun (but rewarding) playstyles instead of criticising the devs for not encouraging fair play?

Yes if anyone holds back and both sides play chill or even do farming matches then its raining bloodpoints, it makes sense as the entity gets longer time to feed off of peoples emotions. But for players that passed the softcap BP are not enough a reward and when only Hooks and escapse count as wins then the playerbase just does what gets them to the target fastest or in the most reliable way.

It might be too late to change this, the playerbase has been trained to be competetive for quite some time now. People just wont stubbornly realise this and instead try to force their fun onto others. But anyone is responsible for their own fun, not the next players fun.

Love whenever someone defends tunneling there is always that response "oh well you lack skill then if you need to tunnel."

OP didnt even say they are tunneling every game or something. Just said the truth that tunneling is indeed a viable strategy in the right situation. New players dont know about tunneling and when they learn about it yes they overdo it. Which makes them loose games even more. But by 2000 hours i know when and who to tunnel and when not. Tunneling is one of a couple of ways to gain pressure for the killer. And its totally ok to do.

Well I don't tunnel that much or camp hooks. I find it gets kinda boring like that so I try to play in a more fair fashion to give them a chance.

But if someone starts taunting me, oh yeah! You are getting tunneled and camped.

It is definitely necessary versus some bully squads.

Just be careful not to fall into the trap of falling for the taunter who's running OTR /DS!

If someone on 2 hooks gets unhooked then runs into my face to body block I’m 100% hitting them to put them in a deep wound and chase them down to rehook them. I think a lot players don’t actually expect you to hit them when they body block so they’ll run into you to protect their rescuer, be shocked they got hit/lost their endurance when you hit them then curse you out for tunnelling after being downed and hooked again

Your game, your choice. No one should order you to do otherwise.

Of course it is. No one thinks tunneling isn't a strategy for winning.

Like most things that are very effective in this game, it's just lame.

It's just a lazy win, I guess it's one of those types who loses in other comp game and takes revenge in DBD
Lord Bailey Apr 14, 2024 @ 5:47pm
I don't think it is a "lazy" win. It's just a way too win that people don't like because it's effective. If it wasn't no one would complain.

Do we really need more of these rehashed discussion threads? Are the hundreds of similar ones made prior not enough? really? lmao like just let sleeping dogs lie, don't go to the forums to dredge up arguments, it's not helping anything or anyone and only comes off as just another attention-seeking bait post.

For anyone after me, don't give in, just let the post die out so it can go back to the void.

You cannot win at max mmr against sweaty swfs without tunneling. In fact some swf/map combinations are impossible as certain killers.

Dear killer main in case you didn't heard about mmr If you lose you will face weaker survs (while as a surv you can't derank after you reach soft cap I died 15 times yesterday and still my mmr was 1900-2100), I also lose to strong swfs with my Mastermind, but after that I can win 2-3 times and it's even more than fine for me mmr is unbalanced for survs rather than killers

So infinites and instant heal were also ok. Because they were a way to win
