EasyAntiCheat BSOD

I keep getting this easyanticheat bsod. The Whocrashed results indicated that the crash was caused by this EasyAntiCheat. I haven't been able to find the program listed in my apps. I have noticed the crash has happened after I tried to play Dead by Daylight. it has been the only times when I had this crash. Anyone else have this issue?

This typically only happens if your anti-virus incorrectly detects EAC as a virus, which only shoddy AV's tend to do. It isn't malware or a virus, to be clear, it's just the third party anti-cheat BHVR uses for DBD (a bunch of other multiplayer games use it too). Very occasionally I've heard of EAC causing a BSOD because of a driver conflict but that shouldn't happen unless you haven't updated anything in years.

If in doubt, run a "validate files" on DBD through Steam (game properties window).

You can validate steam files, but you need to REPAIR the EAC install. Go into the DBD directory, find the EAC directory and run the installer there. It will let you repair it.

Go to this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dead by Daylight\EasyAntiCheat and run the EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe and select Game 83 and click repair.
(there is an alternative executable, its in this dir: C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat\EasyAntiCheat.exe )
Update your windows (all updates). Update your drivers and etc.
If you are using a modified windows install (Like AtlasOS, old HoneGG versions) or a debloated version, you may be missing stuff that the Anticheat needs to work. This can also cause crashes (I had this happen in the past when using AtlasOS).
This info should help you fix this.

My computer keeps crashing because of this EasyAntiCheat. We shouldn't have to have this installed if it causes our computers to crash

Did you restart your PC? Shutting it down and back up/logging out and in your windows account doesn't count.

Which version of Windows? Is it fully updated?

Check C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat\EasyAntiCheat.sys right click on it then select properties and then digital signatures tab. What dates are listed there?

I found C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat_EOS. I see Signer information, under Signing time: ‎Thursday, ‎September ‎21, ‎2023 6:23:30 AM
