Also, at the start of the match at least one Survivor is assured to start completely opposite your position on the map. This means smart Killers (unless they have a plan locally) will beeline across the map at game start. If you started doing a generator you spawned next to the chances of you being found (if no one else is in chase) are quite high.
The really smart Killers can judge your distance from an objective based on its progress and the state of everyone else in the match.
I always assume Killers bring aura reading perks these days though.
After 10k hours I am sneaky. I'm coming from a point where there is NO way of knowing where I am. Like last match for example. I was in a corner where a gen was already completed. Last survivor was on the hook. They came straight to me. The games tonight haven't made sense and my friends have been witnessing it. And yes I check their add ons.
Like you quietly enter a locker, healthy, and there's at least 4 lockers around. Killer instinctively arrive and open the correct locker without a millisecond of hesitation. Do people have a mod where they can lower every sound from the game except survivors breathing?
Or very specific situation but: 4 gens left, 3 different gens are being repaired at the same time. I'm cleansing a totem in the 2nd floor bedroom of dead dawg saloon. Killer suddenly shows up and decided he wanted to look in that room with 3 breakable doors, it's not really that close to a generator and it's a very weird place to inspect. No aura reading anything that could have matched with my location and behaviour, no Hex:undying to see survivors near dull totems. I wasn't the obsession. That's just sus.
But otherwise yeah, just check carefully. It's funny how many perks and addons there are, especially of killers who are encountered rarely, that people call cheater but they're totally legit. I remember when Knight was the latest killer, people didn't know what Nowhere to hide was and were angry in aftergame chat. Bruh just look at the perks...
skill issue
i thought he had bbq and when the last survivor got hooked i got into a locker before the animation and he still managed to find me
Also, survivors aren't as sneaky as they think they are...or, perhaps it's more accurate to say that whatever trick you're trying to pull, an experienced killer has probably seen it 100x already.
It's possible that:
Since you're near a completed generator, I'd rule out tracking through sound. It has to be visual or honest 'game sense' or cheats.
I think your question really is, "are there more wallhack cheaters nowadays?"
Yes, I feel like there are more cheaters nowadays - both survivors/killers. I play less frequently now, but I'm still reporting blatant cheaters roughly monthly. Subtle cheats (info or mini-speedhacks or consistent great skill checks or lightweight scratchmarks without the perk, iron will without iron will) are harder to prove.
I usually get a decent game even if the opponent is subtly cheating, so I don't really care. I just hate it when I depip in Iridescent grades - and that happens even if the opponent isn't subtly cheating - they just have to play scummy/tryhard.
none of these perks show the survivors aura, but they still give info
Sometimes I think survivors underestimate how frequently this happens. You can hide your aura, scratch marks, and voice, but there's no perk that'll prevent me from seeing you climb into the locker if I get there before the animation is over.
There's also the "well, where else could they have gone?" discoveries. That's when I arrive near an objective, such as a generator, and see it has been recently worked on. I look around and there's wide open spaces everywhere. I think, "The survivor had to leave just as I got here. If they ran away, I would be able to see them. I can't see them. Conclusion: they are still here." And then I look. And more often than not, I find them.
