Easily detectable when allies are spawned separated and you're not running about and using calm spirit and crouched in 1 corner.
This. If my Distortion goes off, that's my cue to start walking and find a gen that's not easy to see/get to from our starting point.
That said, Distortion needs work. There should be some kind of value to the perk besides blocking aura reading because if the killer isn't using any aura perks it's a completely dead and useless perk right from the start.
A good buff for distortion would be to proc on killer instinct too, but the game lacks more perks that block auras in different ways, until today there is only distortion that gives this stealh effect, they could reuse several old low-picked perks, such as urban evasion (staying crouched for 2s , for example, would make the survivor undetectable and the aura could not be read, so smart survivors will need to get ahead of the killer's move when they suspect the aura will be read), bite the bullet (disallow the aura reading while healing or healing others), and even Technician (block the aura reading while you repair a generator), anyway, there are many ideas to proc the aura reading block to combat the excessive number of aura reading perks by the killers and bring back the stealh game play
That's how I find my first chases, even without using aura perks! It's real solid advice.
I don't think a perk needs work if you bring it and the Killer isn't using anything for it to be against.
You gambled, and lost, just like a Killer who brings light born and no flashlights are brought.
And even to a lesser extent NOED, just because a Killer brings it into the match doesn't mean they will ever see any use from it. Does that mean it needs work to make sure a Killer gets some kinda use out of it?
The analogy wasn't the best.
Killer manages to have control over what the survivors are bringing as an item in the match. And even though no one has brought anything, there are chests and grenades, either way, you haven't potentially lost a slot.
If the killer does not bring any aura readings, on the other hand, distortion is indeed and potentially a wasted slot, as there is nothing secondary that will proc the use of the perk.
NOED for simply doing and cleansing the dull totems, the killer potentially gained a huge amount of time in the middle of the match, even though the perk does not actually activate at the end.
The best analogy would be to bring shatered hope as a killer without having any boom totem, which is why people kept asking for a secondary effect (buff) in the perk or that it was a base-kit when coh was omnipresent (like we are asking here now with distortion)
