Does Pyramid Head have an ability to find or redirect cages?
I was just in a Pyramid Head match in which, after downing and placing someone in a cage, he made a beeline to where that cage was made (literally the exact opposite corner of the map) then patrolled it as if he knew I was there (I was using Distortion so he shouldn't have). Finally, after taking a hit and reaching for the save, the cage and the person in it suddenly disappeared and reappeared back in the other corner of the map again.

I don't play PH, does he have any way to do this or was it a hacker? After a miserable time playing the game 2 days ago I thought that maybe today would be different but after a Skull Merchant, a camping Meyers (only the fourth one in twelve matches this week!) and now this, I'm wondering if I should just stay away for the game altogether.

Assuming he's not hacking, there's no way for PH to know where the cage ends up. If he does happen upon it, the cage will move somewhere else after a few seconds to prevent him from camping it.

It always spawns the furthest away. They just understood the spwning logic.

when Pyramidhead stays too long near cages they get moved away from him
For him knowing where you were: cages tend to spawn far away from him and when you get rescued from a cage he gets a sound and visual cue

The cage always spawns at the furthest possible spot from the killer, a good pyramid head can use game sense to locate these cages and stand infront of it for a couple seconds to move it. It will again reappear at the furthest possible spot.

Thanks for the answers everyone. I didn't know that the cage just literally disappears right in front of you, I was right in the middle of the animation and my character pulled down nothing. There wasn't any sound effect or anything so it seems really suspicious. I don't know how he knew where the cage was in the first place but that at least sounds like chance. I was more concerned about the disappearing cage.

They could maybe put a sound effect or little fizzling particle effect or something to make it not look so cheap and unintentional, lol.

The strat for people in cages is look furthest away and if needed make the cage move if you think they go for a save. Its ability is to move so make use of that killer power. Survivors scramble

With a little practices you can kind of get where is gonna spawn cause it goes to the furthest possible location of the killer when it caged. If its close for "too long" the cage just relocate by itself

I can have a basic/rough guess where the cages spawn since the vast majority of the time it just puts it all the way across the map in a general direction.

That being said - I tend to not really keep track of the cages either way since I mean. . . I'm not using them to camp! (Ok well we can talk about tunneling but - that's a different can of worms hahaha)

but it is possible and fairly easy to find the cages if you're experienced with the killer. Hell I'm only mediocre generally speaking and I could do it!

But... if the pyrammid head puts you in then makes a straight BEELINE to your exact position... Either he is tracking a survivor coming to save you (aura, sight, audio etc.) or he is oddly uncanny in his speed and precision.

Sorry! it is sorta' like a difficult thing to gauge without perspective/context in the actual game... But think of it like this! Is he good? if he's good then he might kinda' be able to proxy camp you all naughty like... But Straight bullet bolts to exact locations is not normal. So check their perks and addons! If things don't add up then I can understand being (SUS)picious!

There is a bit of a logic to the cage spawn, typically as far from Pyramid Head as possible or at least far enough away from him. Good PyHeads can guess pretty accurately where it might end up and rush over there hoping to catch an unhook, I remember getting pretty good at predicting it back when I played a lot of him.

The cage moving is his mechanic though as others have said. If he sticks around too close for long it moves it around, and I'm not exactly sure if it follows the same logic where it puts you as far away as initially, I never tested it that far.
