Don't use a white background unless your giving sable a tan. She is very white.
Don't use so much black. Ad a black background and see why.
Maybe make Sables sin color the same so she doesn't look like a clown.
Fish nets & Spider webs and chains ? Pick your poison.
- Not like you can just doodle this but Id go hard on the spider theme.
-Maybe keep the booty shorts add a spider web skirt with a live spider on her arm with some loose web on the arm.
You can really go hard with this spider theme adding it to the boots ect.
Good job. I'm not crazy about what you did but hey you did better then me :) cheers.
Ive used black as it is a goth staple and this is supposed to be a gothic skin for Sable, as far as I believe Behaviour has allowed dark clothing to be added to the game before, my example would extend to the coined term "Blendette" where they would use dark coloured cosmetics on her to blend into the background. Due to this I am not sure if this would be any problem.
Sables face has a white base as another commentator mentioned her makeup style is based off of traditional gothic makeup which uses that white as a base, irl they look very pale and sometimes a bit jarring but its part of the look
Fishnets with chains I believe are a popular combination. I can understand perhaps your comment about spider webs being a bit much as having all 3 different textures may not work for you, however the mesh top that I chose was something I had chosen specifically for myself within the design. Of course I would listen to the feedback I asked for however I decided to keep a couple aspects of the design for myself as it is my skin at the end of the day, the community is not paying for me to make a skin to their liking despite the feedback and help I asked of them in the early developmental stages that they very kindly gave.
I do agree about leaning into the spider theme it could have been something I could have added a bit more into the design with but since today was the last day and I started only a few weeks ago I was pretty drained from working on it every day since then all the way up to the deadline, I will however keep it in mind for next years design should I choose to rework this design or go for another spider themed look with Sable.
Thanks for the feedback as always, hope there is something you do enjoy about the skin and I wish you luck with your own design, after all its about the concept not painting ability (I assume that's what you were referring to before) x
Best of lucks.
Well to be honest I only invited one person for a critique, "ItzJDGames" for their opinion at the time but I will humour the response you have given.
Firstly the face on the left side was referenced directly from her concept art, I was also surprised on how her jawline ended up looking while doing the design. As for the fingers people are born in all sorts of ways, there isnt really anything that looks too "male" or "female" anymore (though I dont think they look thick enough to seems stereotypically masculine). The hair was inspired by Siouxsie Sioux not KISS as a direct references to some gothic fashion roots. I disagree and say that it would be Sable-esque as she is supposed to have that gothic style, she also sports a jellyfish haircut in her skin line which supports the same kind of volume I was going for within my artwork. Ive heard people reference Mikela and Sable to be based somewhere in the semi-early 2000's, during this time emo was all the rage, poofy back combed hair, the lot of it, so I figured it would fit pretty well. Not to mention the feedback I got from a lot of the player base who liked the cut a lot.
I can agree with the dirt part of it but if need be behaviour can add that in themselves if the skin did get picked, the concept art for me was to just describe her outfit mostly. I dont think she really looks muscular, sure her knees are defined and shes a bit curvy but she doesnt look super fit or strong, no particular muscle definition is visible at least.
I dont know if I agree with your comment of her footwear always being "feminine" and the idea was not to let her go barefoot, goth culture focuses always on big chunky platform boots, occasionally you'll see the tall stiletto heel or perhaps something looking a bit more like a doc marten smaller boot (mostly for baby bats). However i would say it is a good fit for the culture and theme of the skin for Sable. She even features those thigh high boots in her on release alternative skin as reference.
For the second to last comment I dont really see what you mean about her crotch coming across as her backside? The line simply is curved for stylistic purposes to help aid in showing volume, you know, make the character seem more 3 dimensional? I feel as though in real life the clothing would not be "a straight line" as you mention either, unless it was a more baggy fit, even then I believe it would have at least a soft s shape curve for the clothing line.
Overall it seems that perhaps you are weirdly a tad obsessed with things looking too "masculine/feminine" or people too "fit or unfit". The only valid criticism that actually seems constructive in your piece appears to be the part about the possible dirt, and even then I dont think many of the other designs feature that within their works to begin with. After all it is a concept, not the final 3D model/piece. It is simply a taster of an idea my friend.
Thank you for your attempt at feedback, this exchange has not been as helpful as I would have liked. Please read a bit more carefully in the future to avoid mishaps like this again thank you.
Ta lovely x
