Why can't Birkin be used in 2v8

I thought we finally had a licensed killer for 2v8 via the Birkin skin, but... he can't be used.

A shame, I was thinking of buying him to use in 2v8. Oh well

The AoT skin for Spirit is also disabled in 2v8.

The license holders have to allow their characters to team up with other killers (current and future), which means legal negotiations for both BHVR and said IP holders. This takes time and money on top of actually programming and testing them for 2v8.

There's no way that's the reason man, survivor skins can still be used freely so there is no problem with crossover teams.
If you can do Chris Redfield, James Sunderland Ellen Ripley and Laurie Strode as a team there is no reason you can't do Michael Myers paired with Wesker.

Those pairings were already in the original license agreements. Killers were not. Legal contracts are very specific.

it is the reason as its not dbd who decides what can or cant be used but in fact the people who own actual rights to the movie or show skins ie . they are ones who decide survivors can be fine but not killers as that cross over affects in there own words the movies and movies make $ its thier call not dbd at all

But you can use the licensed killer characters in the environments of other licensed settings, like Chucky on the Nostromo. Whoever said "specific contract" is probably spot on though.

Cant be used because the license owners wont let them unless BHVR pays more money.

In an Interview Matthew Cote, said the main issue, is that some owners, don't want to have their killer put with another. He made a quip about how everyone is happy for their killer to kill Ash Williams, but some don't want to play together. Or at least, negotiating that is not as easy, as in 1v4. I have a feeling if they can straighten 2v8 back out, in the future, you might see a few licencee ones appear. Still early days really. And these events are really like beta tests. (or Alpha really).
