Renato Why...?

So recently I played a match with a Renato on my team. No big deal, new survivor so he's popular. The thing is, I swear this man was trolling me all match.

He and I spawned together in the shack and both jumped on the gen there. As soon as I got on the gen with him he flashed his flashlight at me and then walked away. I had distortion so I know the killer didn't read our auras and was coming for us. So whatever, weirdo can do a different gen I guess.

Later in the match, he got hooked. I finished my gen and went to go get him. This man waited until I was right there, touching his toes, to deliverance himself off of the hook and then just ran away from me.

Finally, towards the end of the match he got hooked again. He missed his first skill check but started hitting all the others, so I went for him. He hit every single skill check until I once again was touching him and then he just killed himself.

It was funny but like... why? Why do Renatos do the things they do?

Edit: This is just a silly match that happened to me lol, I'm not upset. Though I do want to know what caused the on sight hatred to me lmao, maybe he hated the color pink

Probably has more to do with the player than the Survivor they were playing, sounds like some classic trolling. Least he wasn't hardcore sandbagging.

It bothered OP enough to post about it, so pretty far from light-hearted.

Particularly when someone puts themselves out and at risk to go rescue, which is a trade-off that affects the entire team, and they jump off the hook in front. God-forbid anyone else get those points for rescuing them, god forbid they don't get to use their ability which they should have done 30 seconds previous if they were playing properly.

And they're probably doing this same stuff every single match. Call it what it is, mindless anti-social nonsense.

It's... It's the gameplay version of s---posting, it's not optimal, it might cause someone else to lose the game, but it's just a game. If they wanna meme then they're gonna meme whether you like it or not.

I just want to make it clear that this was a bit of a joke. It did happen but it was funny. This post was just meant to make fun of my own situations

You have a really negative outlook on players who don't play seriously. Deliverance in front of someone and dying on purpose in front of someone are vastly different from genuinely ruining someones experience in game

Playing seriously is neither here nor there, they can fool around all they want so long as it doesn't cause feelbads or directly lead to others getting killed. Of course as survivors we all make mistakes which may or may not cause the others to eventually fail to escape but doing it casually and intentionally is another thing entirely.

And just on a basic level these tiny interactions matter quite a lot when people are doing it dozens of times every_single_day. They get a chance to impact everyone's experience positively, and all they gotta do is not screw the person who's running to rescue them or heal them or whatever. Just chill and let their teammates do their thing. But they can't even do that. That kind of innate selfishness really gets me down and I kind of feel like it shouldn't be handwaved..

Also as far as it being like s- posting, as I see it mostly that usually either punches upwards or intentionally self-owns. Either way when done properly it brightens peoples day. If it's causing feelbads in others then they're doing it wrong - just like these players.
