anonymous mode either has the most toxic people or blantant hackers
either the person with no name is either toxic and be toxic to you or they are blatantly cheating. just remove anonymous mode

I am neither and I use anon mode. I just don’t want people stalking me on Steam because they didn’t like (insert completely normal gameplay thing) I did.

Cool?
You don't need their actual name to report them, so I don't know why you need it removed because of cheaters
I don't think anonymous mode should exist. it's an unnecessary feature that only encourages malicious behavior.

It was actually introduced to discourage malicious behavior. I see more “Good” anon mode users than “Malicious” ones in my matches (on both sides).
This just sounds like you want to harass other players that are neither hackers nor toxic, honestly. Anon mode exists to protect users that do not want to be harassed by so many people in the literal cesspool of ego-strokers called DBD players.

Ironically it did a bit in the start but eventually people grew toxic and delinquet to use it for their cheating or offensive actions.Sad business( some anons can be fine but it weights little compare to daily serve of bad dudes.

I don't get alot of blatant hackers but honestly when I do they generally are not using anon mode. Also most of the subtle hackers I encounter are not using it either. The subtle ones who want to hide it / get away with it probably think it would make people more suspicious and the blatant ones buy keys in the hundreds and do not care if they get banned so have no reason to use it.

Same.

I do think alot of toxic players tend to use the anonymous feature to troll/be toxic but like the idea of doing so without the fear of any backlash, And due to the anon system should you get them again you won't know until they do it again

In saying that i do think this is one of those "few bad apples" sorta thing, I would say the good=bad ratio is definitely 70/30, And that generally speaking the Anon feature is there to do its job usually being protecting users from malicious actions or otherwise spiteful players that would like to take things further from tunneling/trolling you in the next match to attacking you and your steam friends for "X" reason

I don't think the feature should be removed but rather BHVR should simply come down harder on those being genuinely toxic, I do think the devs have let people get away with saying some pretty horrific things, Only for no penalty to be issued. I think its great that players who are actively breaking the rules and trolling/being toxic but also happen to be using the anon feature can still be just as easily reported as any other toxic player but its unfortunate that those reports don't actually do anything

Sometimes I think BHVR needs to update the User Interface to make it obvious that all players, including anonymous mode players, can be reported for toxic communications and blatant cheats.

In my own experience, the toxic ones tend to play in duos/trios/quad-squads with their names shown. Cheaters tend to play on not-Steam with anonymous mode on.

I use anonymous mode all the time. Protects myself from toxic chat. And caught a cheater who somehow knew my name although anonymous mode was active.

Anonymous mode is here to stay.

After being harassed excessively in the game by 2 people, making my game experiences miserable etc for weeks on end (Stopped playing because of it) I for one am glad that they introduced anon mode.. Not everyone who plays under anon are toxic, hackers etc. Some of us just want to play without the added BS of being harassed. No need to paint the entire population under anon mode bad just because a select few people are.

Same goes for those with a private profile. Just because it's private - doesn't give people the right to be annoyed at it and demand it be public and sht talk those who have it.

Harassed excessively in game, as in like, flashlight squad or endgame chat? What exactly made the experience miserable for weeks, did they snipe you? I don't think I understand

Being harassed in the game went far beyond just flashlight squads or endgame chat toxicity. I was stream sniped consistently..(Even through overlays hiding stuff) whether I was playing killer or survivor. They would spend the entire match sabotaging my gameplay—body blocking, sandbagging, or holding me hostage in situations where I couldn’t progress or escape.

Weird thing is I have no idea what I even did to them other than play the game? xD

Anon mode and private profiles exist for players like me who just want to enjoy the game without being targeted or dealing with unnecessary toxicity. It’s not about hiding or being shady; it’s about protecting ourselves from a small but loud group of people who make the game miserable for others.
