This question gets asked every year.
No, it's not dead (yet)
only during events when there's new stuff

They have balanced for killers v swf teams leaving soloq a painful experience at high mmr with making smaller and less resourceful maps. I seem to just load in with toxic p100 killers who slug, BM and run meta with S & A tier killers (Some of which can flatten a team perkless if played well).
Honestly this is the best answer in here, exactly what even the top players state.

yes, its dead. im the only person playing but i play on my 30k pc's thats why it says on steamcharts that there's 30 000 players in game.
And for the record, those 30000 players on steamcharts are only the ones that play on steam. The ones that play in epic, playstation, x-box or switch don't count.

Hmmm... imagine the most rotten apple you could see, full of maggots and stinky. That is DBD. Now imagine not having anything else to eat for 30 days (AKA nothing else in the market for years).

That´s the situation right now; Will you eat the apple?

This. When you ask for a new apple they give you one that's slightly less rotten but still inedible.

And everybody that's standing around you is telling you to "git gud and eat it."
My friends have all stopped playing, and I only play occasionally when I have no new games to play.

For a game developer that has long ignored player concerns, continuing for nine years into the new year of 2025 is truly a miracle!

I personally got into it last year, it's been very enjoyable to play both sides. It has a steep learning curve for survivor, as your movement and strategy make a massive difference how long you can keep the killer on the chase. The game itself is of course very simple and straightforward. It being cheap enough as it is, i'd definitely recommend it. First 100 hours is gonna be amazing if you like improving and learning.
i got tattoos of the dbds so i have to stay until death dooooooo us parting
