You'll commonly hear Uzumaki cited as his magnum opus, and I agree with that. It's about a town being totally consumed by spirals and madness. The Enigma of Amigara Fault is probably his other most well-known, and its standout lines are often quoted in horror circles - it's short and I'd say good to start off with to whet your appetite.
Other selected popular/really good ones include: Hellstar Remina, Black Paradox, and Gyo, and for ones featured in DBD, Hanging Balloons (Terumi = Yun-Jin), the Souichi stories (Trickster), Tomie (Spirit, and also a favorite of mine), and Fashion Model (Fuchi/The Artist).
Standouts for me personally (in vague order) are: Hallucinations, Long Dream, Mold, Lovesickness (that collection also includes The Twins' source, but I'm reccing for the intersection pretty boy ones mainly), My Dear Ancestors, Unbearable Maze, and The Groaning Drain (eugh lol).
Also absolutely worth a mention are his Cat Diaries with Yon and Muu. They are literally just "horror" stories about taking care of his real-life cats, with Ito himself as the protagonist, but with his signature style. They're unironically hilarious and, somehow, very cute.
He's also adapted a few stories like Frankenstein into manga format. The only one of his manga I would explicitly warn about is No Longer Human, which is one of those adaptations. I love it, but it's a very intense autobiography and worth looking into before reading, as it's much more than cosmic body horror.
That is in no way an exhaustive list btw, just the ones often considered 'the best' and my favorites but definitely enough to keep you busy for a week or two. Go forth and get yourself spooked :D
Cool, this is awesome news, thanks for sharing, I'm just now discovering some of this Manga art and story, good to know, thanks for sharing. I definitely need to dive into this genre, thanks.
Wow, what an awesome rundown on all the cool titles, thanks for this, I will check them out, nice recommendations and it's amazing how much Junji Ito's has done, i will definitely check your your recommendations and can't wait to get read them and spooked, thanks for sharing your reading list. Ggs!
hahaha, a bot? Who would have known, I never considered myself a bot, lol, I'm just a big fan of Dead by Daylight and the cool Killers and Survivors that Behavior has licensed thus far and the original ones too I especially like these new Killers from Junji Ito, pretty creepy cool stuff, I got the whole set of Killers and Survivors today.
What I hope to see in the future are the other Clive Barker Cenobites, I have Pinhead and Chatter but we need Butterball, Angelique, Deepthroat, Dr. Channard etc. ggs.
Yeah-they don't even compensate it-just silently give skins to some regions, leave others without content.
Players must be treated equialy.....or not?
yea, regional restrictions do set limitations on games and I can see how that that affects gameplay due to factors that sometimes are out of a player's control based on regional policies, licensing agreements among other things which can make matchmaking a challenge or access to game characters and cosmetics impossible, it's a complicated thing, probably more complicated than my answer to your question can provide, so, sorry, I don't have an answer for your question.
And yeah, he's super prolific. Lots of those recs I gave are from short story collections. He's known as the "Master of Horror" definitely for a reason, and is actually a really chill and sweet guy IRL. Used to be a dentist if you can believe that, but tapped into his own phobias and draws what he finds scary. :)
Sucks about the region lock, that's really dumb and unfair. But even so, it's cool that people are discovering him because of this collab. His brand of cosmic horror is excellent and the art's so unique, and it makes me happy to see more people wanting to get into his stuff :)
Wild he used to be a dentist, but he seems to have tapped into something new in horror and I'm glad he decided to collaborate with Behavior in DBD, I'm having tons of fun with his Characters in game, I think he has a unique style, like nothing I've seen before and I will most definitely check out his work. Thanks again for all the references!
Honestly, even if you were a bot, I'd still recommend Junji Ito. It might make for cooler Terminators in the robot revolution.
lol, right? ggs
yes, I think the it's countries under sanctions based on the government actions against its neighbors so the population suffers from the evil deeds of a few decision makers based on unacceptable actions punished by imposed sanctions from the United Nations, so, this is just not a organizational level problem, it's pretty serious.
