i keep getting put on the wrong server.
so i wanted to play a match or two of dbd tonight, and for the first one the game put me on israeli servers, which is nowhere near where i live, so i restart my game, and now i am on the spanish server. good job bhvr for making my experience unplayable with your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ servers.

How do you know the location of your server?

And where do you reside now? Which country?

i live in australia, and i notice that im on high ping (red bar) so i check the survivors because they usually have their location listed, and first match was an israeli group and the second was spain.

I'm in SEA if you'd like to join, we're pretty close.

but this is the problem, i shouldnt need to have to play with others to be in or close to MY server, which is based in sydney. i should be on the sydney server every time i load up this game. labor of love btw

I think you shouldn't expect to be allocated to Sydney all the time - because the playerbase near Sydney is tiny relative to other regions.

For perspective, population size in:
Australia + NZ = 32M,
Southeast Asia = 700M,
East Asia (Korea + Japan) = 175M

But I also think you should be allocated to servers nearer to you - like Singapore or Seoul for a playable, yellow ping of 100-150ms maybe.

If you're getting allocated to Europe (incl. Spain players) or West Asia (incl. Israel players), the red ping of 300ms would be unplayable.

Seems like a server allocation issue. I experience it every now and then. You might get it more often because you're from Sydney.

BHVR should fine-tune their server allocation mechanism I guess.

but i should not be put in servers literally across the world. anywhere past middle-east asia is above 200 ping. like how tf does this even happen? i NEVER get put in sea or seoul or singapore. only across the world on 200-300+ ping.

Hmm. I remember playing with Australian players sometimes while in solo queue from Singapore. My ping spiked up to 100+ ms. I was placed in Sydney servers.

Instead of placing SEA players in OCE servers sometimes,
BHVR should place OCE players in SEA servers sometimes.

Australians' matchmaking mechanism should have something like this:
IF (not enough players for Sydney server),
THEN (check SINGAPORE)
IF (not enough players for Singapore)
THEN (check Hong Kong)
IF (not enough players for Hong Kong)
THEN (check Seoul)
etc.

Right now, I'm guessing it's not optimized, like:
IF (Not enough players for Sydney server),
THEN (check WORLD)

The mechanism should learn to prioritize nearer servers.

I agree on the bad server allocation.
I disagree that "theres always enough players in sydney server"

Also China = 1400M

Fact: Right now there's only about 30k players in-game.
And you think there's enough Australian DBD players queuing for a match all the time?
Even in Southeast Asia, I'm often allocated to HK/China servers.

yeah? and that 30k is only accounting for steam, when i was playing 2v8 i had 0 issues with not being in australia. as i should only be in australia

Good list, mate, cheers.

There is a guide in Steam that helps on setting optimal server by your own without any explicit program like VPN, Tunnels, etc.

i know, and its set for the server in sydney. dead by daylight is the only game that does this kind of garbage. none of my other online games ever deviate to other servers.
