New Hex Totem Meta
Because of the new thrill of the hunt buff, I've currently had 4 games in a row where the killer has ran a full hex build, including devour. 2 Indoor maps, Yamaoka and Coldwind, the totems have been hard to find, take an hour to cleanse, and the sweaty TTV I had on Yamaoka was even running face the darkness that interrupted cleansing. And killers are getting free kills at the cost of nothing with minimal effort. Killers checking gens? Go and cleanse, realise it takes almost a minute, then scream and have to start the whole thing again. Killer's stopped checking gens. I'm now downed. Oh, and he can mori me even though he kept dropping chase on me the other 2 times he found me. This new meta is not healthy and it certainly isn't fun, for killers either (it's not about winning guys!) and is very RNG based. Maps like Hawkins and the Game, it's already GG it's like the totems don't even spawn. Coldwind? Well that's if you actually have any pallets left before you manage to cleanse the first totem. And then every other map is pure luck that you find them, which is unbalanced either way. Petition to change the game name to Dead by Totems until this changes because the Hex Totems are the real killers right now.

Update: Thrill's been renerfed thank goodness. Solid patch addressing the issue very quickly

...so don't cleanse and do gens. They have no gen defence. It isn't that hard to understand.

did you try.. maybe.. be near the totem, and when killer start a Chase clean the totem? and depend if the chased survivor know how to loop and make a lot time, like when repair gens, maybe

All the bad killers running the hex build currently will go back to being bad once thrill gets nerfed, which will be in the next hotfix. Meanwhile try to run counterforce.

The scenario you descibe there is one of bad teamplay by the survivors.
Face the darkness requires at least one survivor to be injured. When the injured survivors are downed, or healed there is no face the darkness anymore and you can cleanse without screaming.
If the killer moris you after the first time you are downed the killer already had five hooks, or more. If he commits to a chase at this point which hepreviously dropped my guess is that either multiple gens are left to do, or other survivors already died, or a combination of both.
The point is when the devour mori comes into play the pendulum has already swung in the killers favor.
If you run into totem builds that often and have difficulties finding them you should run small game, counterforce, detectives hunch, or bring a map.
I rarely run into full hex builds since the thrill changes, but if others do, why dont you change your perks to an anti hex build instead of complaing about a hex meta?
I walking 360ed a killer earlier today I don't think the exposed is as bad as people think.
ohhhhh brother the 100th totem thread. We get it, you dont know how to play around it so your gonna cry just like the rest but its okay, its getting nerfed in about a week anyway

I'm not crying, I gave you the scenario I was in and explained how neither I or any of my soloq teammates enjoyed the current meta but thanks for telling me it's getting nerfed soon :steamthumbsup:

I was cleansing BECAUSE the killer was patrolling gens and already had 3 stacks of devour so teammates were playing stealth, then Face the Darkness interrupted me at 75% and the killer came running over to the deadzone where the totem sat. Pretty unlucky :sacrificed:

There's not much time when you're getting instantly downed from devour, and the more competent killers are using face the darkness like it should be used so cleansing totems is incredibly difficult and the chase could even end before you manage to get anywhere close to cleansing

yeah the totems are kinda stupid right now so I am glad its getting nerfed, most people that will tell you to "get gud" are either killer mains loving the totems, or elitest players who think everyone sucks but them.

When you get insta downed by devour face the darkness does nothing, because it requires injured survivors to activate.

As I said, the killer's knew what they were doing, dropped chase on one to get Face the Darkness value for most of the game and unfortunately soloq being soloq, teammates are running around aimlessly, panicking and looking for totems. The killer dropped the first time after he couldn't get a hit, got a free hit the second time and then dropped again for face the darkness (I had medkit thankfully but the other teammate didn't after this and Face the Darkness was on for most of the game since I had no idea where he was for a heal) and it all went downhill since he reached 3 stacks quickly and I was trying to commit to totems, but of course he had Undying (I got interrupted once by FTD and that was all the killer needed) I didn't see that one coming, because by the time he hit 5 stacks face the darkness stopped working as well but it still took a good minute just to cleanse Undying and because everyone was scared to get on gens (he got one mori) he resorted to gen patrol so I could not sit on gens and then came running to another totem I finally found in a deadzoned corner of Yamaoka where he just got the free down. And you're right, once devour mori comes into play it's GG, which backed up by a build designed to defend totems rather than gens is pretty impossible to get around.
You are right about the totem builds though. It just bugs me that I'm forced to play a style I don't really want to have to play just so the killer can't cheese this crazy meta and give soloq a terrible time.
Not sure where your MMR stands but yes, I had back to back games with full hex builds around Thrill and just today 3 of my 5 games I decided to hop into briefly, the killers had thrill and devour which just baffles me at how everyone starts doing the exact same thing because they think it's free wins for them. Yes this sucks, yes soloq yet again have to take the brunt of it because SWF have it much easier with comms so everyone knows if someone else finds a hex and where it is. The meta just isn't pleasant right now that's all I wanna say

Like I said, competent killers are using face the darkness like it should be used, leaving one injured to keep it active and stopping cleanses almost indefinitely while he gets his stacks of devour and because soloq and MMR, it's a breeze for them
