it was designed for 60fps
it doesnt even have an ingame option to disable 60fps
you need to do it with config ?
So dont expect it to be optimized for modern hardware
Yeah that is a good point. It does run well at higher frames, but I'm not sure if it's optimized like you said
It’s weird I know but I was playing a game called void bastards and I had the same issue, some one on there forums said to try it and it fixed it.
So that’s why I tried it in this game and it worked.
Okay what the frick. I turned off GSync and it's working like a dream...what the frick? Why is that a thing?
Wrong Gsync settings and likely game related settings. Very common with this game. I literally haven't seen a single video or guide for this game that wasn't full of absolutely terrible advice and I've watched all of them lol it's actually pretty amazing.
It's been a thing for years. GSync is a system that has the possibility to completely destroy your experience. It follows no logic, it's just a setting to turn off if you have problems(to see if GSync is causing them)
I'm just playing on default ultra, but I believe GSync was the culprit. Any idea on why that might be a thing? Do you know of any popular games that GSync would be conflicting with?
If you don't set it up correctly it will not work correctly and most of the time the problem is that it isn't even running because by default it is enabled for full screen mode via NVCPL and if you simply change from full screen to windowed and fullscreen mode it doesn't correctly change it. You have to completely disable it, and then from disabled set to enabled for windowed and full screen mode. You can see this if you use something like Nvidia Profile Inspector or manually checking by turning on the Gsync indicator and testing it yourself. Of course this only applies if you're using borderless & changed it that way.
I suggest turning on the indicator and then making sure that it shows up when game is running so at least you know it is running. If it is not then the issues is likely the one I mentioned at the start.
Set your monitor to the highest refresh rate.
Enable Gsync indicator:

Make sure it shows up when game is running:

The rest of the correct settings are as follows:
NVCPL settings:
Low Latency Mode: Off
Max Frame Rate: 60FPS
Monitor Technology: G-Sync Compatible
Preferred Refresh Rate: Highest Available
Vertical Sync: On <===
Disable Vsync in GameUserSettings.ini by setting bUseVSync= to False and save file normally.
Add these two lines to the end of your Engine.ini and save file normally:
[/script/engine.engine]
bSmoothFrameRate=False
Also worth noting that a lot of Gsync and Gsync compatible monitors have issues with Gsync working correctly after monitor has been put into sleep mode so it's worth shutting it off and on before playing if it's been put to sleep.
