In the ptb, it's "tracking" is the ability to move slightly to the side, changing it's angle if you weren't 100% on point. It's not going to swerve 45 degrees and chase you across the map; it's got less length, and makes the pillar dangerous in more of a cone rather than a straight line.

It's not terribly powerful, but from what I can see it's very good in specific pallet situations. Again, mostly those niche cases where you're in a tight space
