Unfortunately, most people want MMR to magically figure out what your skill level is. The problem is that you need to lose a lot for the MMR to actually find your "balanced" matchups. It takes into consideration your wins, how you won, your losses, and how you lost, etc... If you avoid every matches you think will be a loss, you're just asking for matches that always feel hard won/lost and actual balanced matches will be too few.
Hmm, ive never thought about it that way before, losing would i guess help with balancing out the mmr more, unfortunately sometimes it could really be soul-crushing even at a casual level to lose, but i guess if its a necessary evil then so it shall be then
True, but that is a mentality you gotta temper. When playing competitive, you need to be kind to yourself if you lose but also strict on yourself to keep going. If you don't, then every losses will just feel terrible lol
