EAC blocked filters. I've read somewhere that ReShade still works but use it at your own risk. People say it's possible you could get banned because it alters files but I've used it from 2022-2023 with no problems at all.

Go to NVIDIA Control Panel, Adjust desktop color settings and make your own settings, you just have to reset them after you are done playing DBD. Them disabling NVIDIA filters can't stop people from customizing their colors and brightness.

Filters are unintended unfair advantage (same as cheating).

So is it EAC specific and not game specific?
Then why does the PTB had the same issue while main branch was working fine? The previous game version used a different EAC version?

its already been said years ago that things change once EAC detects and bans thats it BHVR will not help you if nvidia filters aren't working anymore i think its only a matter of time until reshade gets blocked as well i wouldn't use it

You can always use your monitor settings.
Butcherchop Aug 29, 2024 @ 10:22pm
Oh this is bad news. I dont like not being able to use filters cuz i have bad vision. It was driving me crazy not to be able to add brightness. I just run into things and can't play this game now. :(

I am not entirely sure. According to a DBD dev on reddit, a recent EAC update prevents Nvidia filters from working. It must be a super recent one if that's the case.

Yes they updated the version of EAC they were using with this patch.

The visual effect I needed from Nvidia filters is achievable through adjusting my monitor's display settings - just using the sliders for gamma / contrast / brightness.

It is troublesome that I need to adjust when I switch between activities.

My monitor has been permanently extra bright because I'm lazy, though this is bad for eyesight long-term.

If the issue is EAC, well I don't understand why EAC no longer works with Nvidia filters. Is EAC working with a competitor of Nvidia? Do the filters actually interact with game files? Or is this simply some kind of technical issue?

--
If fairness was the issue, BHVR can resolve it by dealing with it as they have done with "stretched res", i.e. include in-game sliders for gamma, contrast and brightness.

you can most monitors have a brightness setting/gamma setting or open up nivida control panel and you can adjust from there
Bloody Moon Aug 30, 2024 @ 5:00am
I don’t use any of that filters, but banning users for using Nvidia filters is definitely too much, these are just modifications to color intensity and brightness. So they ban all monitors because all monitors have settings to adjust these setting? Also, I don't see any warning, neither in the store nor in the game, indicating that the use of such filters is prohibited, which is not legal.

You're assuming their intention and you're presenting false information. BHVR has never banned or restricted the use of nvidia filters.

"Not working with" is very different from "ban" or "restrict".
Your wrong choice of words is misleading others with fake news.
EAC is not the owner of the game, and try to be less toxic. This community is already ridiculous enough as it is.

Why are you reminding me that EAC is not the owner of the game? I'm already aware of that. Why are you telling me to be less toxic? What was toxic in my post? I said you've used wrong words. I'm trying to correct your info. By calling it a "ban", you're presenting fake info even if unintentionally.

Even the reddit post you've so kindly linked above shows BHVR saying:
"Right now with the update to EAC, Nvidia Filters do not work. Unfortunately we cannot say if/when these will work in the future."

Clearly, they said "do not work".
NOT "restricted", and
NOT "banned".

Please improve your word choice and information accuracy.

I agree with you that if they ban users of Nvidia filters, it's too much. But that's not what they did here.

makes no sense to get lost in semantics when there is no transparency

to the end user, it feels the same as a ban bc the result - being unable to use it - is identical
when it's a "ban", it's as an offense. u're not allowed to play the game.

when it's "do not work", it's NOT an offense. and you are still allowed to play the game.

big differences.

the reason the updated eac is not working with nvidia filters is unclear. but let's not twist the info and stir ♥♥♥♥ to spread fake news. it can be simply due to some technical issue.

for now, just adjust display settings to workaround this. no need to stir ♥♥♥♥.
