What's the survivor escape rate supposed to be?
I play solo, as does most of player base. I have about 800 hours in the game and average around 1 escape per 10 matches. Depending on my luck, sometimes less. It doesn't feel good. Especially when the majority of matches include killers tunneling or short distance camping. Yes, yes, I know the game encourages that kind of gameplay and the killer isn't doing anything wrong by utilizing strategies the devs give them. But they are arguable the most unfun playstyles to go against and while this is an asymmetrical game I don't think one's side fun should be at the cost of the other.

But you know what feels worse? Chases. It's pretty common knowledge that the average survivor isn't great a looping. Why? Because it's hard. And the tutorial doesn't exactly set up beginner players for success. Even intermediate players like myself have trouble lasting more than 20 secs (cough cough that's what he said). Then they get unhooked and commonly tunneled again but this chase lasts like 10 secs because they're already down a health state. And when players express frustration with this, what do they hear?
"Skill issue"
"Get good"
How? you shouldn't have put 2000 hours into a game to learn the mechanics well enough to not go down instantly. It isn't fun for you, it's not fun for your team.

All this is why I enjoyed 2v8 so much. Killers couldn't camp or tunnel as easily. A few bum teammates didn't wreck the game. And killers tended not to commit to long chases due to having to keep pressure on the whole team rather than just a single person. My escape average sat comfortable around 35-40% and it was so fun! Even the bad games felt fun because alot of the "unfun" play styles couldn't be used in that mode.

And I already know someone is going to call me a survivor main and tell me "cool story". Have at it. While I play killer less, I still play it. And you know what? It's EASY. When I'm not taking a hiatus from dbd I tend to reach iridescent grade for killer within a week or so of casual playing. It's not even a struggle. Then when I do get to higher rank, once in a while I get a swf that wipes the floor with me. But it's rare. Then the next dozen games will be an easy 4k without having to break a sweat. I don't play killer as often, despite how much I "win", because it's BORING.

Final thoughts: Gameplay should be reworked so casual players stand a better chance. I don't know why this game operates like every team is a swf. If most survivors are bad at and dislike looping, allow for other viable strategies. Many people prefer the option to play stealthily. Stop discouraging that. Also, if 2v8 isn't coming back then integrate the healthy mechanics of it over to the base game. IE: teleporting hooks.

That's all, thanks for coming to my ted talk

For me personally? I win around 80%+ matches when I'm doing SWF and around 25% in soloQ. This is mostly because of randoms committing suicide on hook because they get downed 1 time or they will see a killer they don't like and they just leave.
eh why not (Banned) Aug 21, 2024 @ 12:07pm
If you are escaping 1 in 10 games you are doing something terribly wrong.

Chases don't matter. Map pressure trading is what you are doing wrong.

Take sprint burst, kindred, botany and resurgence every game. Afk on gens. Take chases to a portion of the map with completed gens and no active hooks, and away from near completed gens. Going down in a portion of the map where the killer cannot pressure multiple objectives at once is more important than looping. If every survivor did this then survivor rate would skyrocket to 75%.

SoloQ survival rate is cursed, but a sweaty SWF should be able to 3 out every game easilly.

But the survivors can't see where each gen has been completed unless they've personally done it themselves. Also, you talk about areas, but if you're attempting to avoid a 3 gen situation, there probably aren't to many of those areas, if you've tried to spread out what is done where.

When gen is finished you can see it cross the map even as survivor. So don't know how you would not be able to know where the gen was done when its clearly shown to you every time one is done.

That doesn't mean when it's highlighted is the point you'll be in chase and know to head there. You can't see it after the initial highlight besides the lights above it. It's smarter to go to the place that has defenses to work around, like pallets and windows. And a dangerous 3 gen situation? That's the kind of "area" I thought he was talking about. You need to be able to move from tile to tile, not just one tile where the generator was completed. That's not nearly enough, when you're talking about the trek of leading the killer over to that area in the first place.

Ideally the dev want survivor to escape 40% of the time. The last stats with that prove that survivor escape 39% of the time so its fine until they show new stats.

Now the issue is too many teamate suicide on hook making solo q a pain to deal with. Every game you play look at the UI and see what your teamate are doing and that should give you the amswer why you escape so little. Soli i escape mostly 30% of the time but its because if i feel my teamate are worthless i hide and wait for hatch

Complete noob player here who rage uninstalled two weeks ago after 20 hours partially because of being tunneled out in 30% of matches near start of match after completely repairing a single gen for my team alone 80% of the time. Also preferred survivor although I found it easier to win (or at least send to cage consistently-almost exclusively played killer in 2v8) as killer. Out of roughly 50 1v4 matches in solo q survivor-I escaped 4. Making my escape rate as survivor….pretty horrible.

Yet somehow according to my achievement progress I was close to moving UP in the SBMM as survivor. With 4 escapes out of around 50. I guess so I could have zero escapes?

I escape about 30-40%, only 30 because some randos like to give up right away. In a SWF it's more like 80%

1/10 is terrible. should sit around 40% escape rate if your doing solo que.
