Engine update is necessary
I was thinking, every 3 years behavior brings some graphical update to the game, whether in maps, polishing the look of killers

I did a technical analysis and thought, why doesn't behavior rebuild the dbd in UNREAL ENGINE 5?

For those not in the know, behavior currently uses the UNREAL ENGINE 4 graphics engine
And no, it's not a bad engine, the problem is that since the dbd core at its launch in 2016, patches have remained to this day, mainly linked to optimization.

Now you ask me, what would be the advantage of behavior recreating DBD in unreal engine 5?

1-Unreal Engine 5 is not just an engine that takes advantage of better graphics, it has several features that would make it easier for developers to bring a better experience to the player, and would facilitate the development of future updates.

2- What is the difference between Unreal 4 and 5 that justifies a mega patch like this?
The new most modern, easy-to-use UE5 editor. improved support for newer plugins, a simplified launcher, and a more efficient content browser system.

Furthermore, developers would have an easier time working on lighting aspects, especially on the PHYSICS of the game.
Several rendering resources are much superior in Unreal 5, so the game could be heavier, but it would easily be more optimized due to more modern technology.

2024 it is completely impossible to have any mention of behavior in this aspect, but perhaps in a future patch 10.0 onwards we can have some mention from the developers, it is a process
It takes a VERY long time to recreate the same game in a new engine, it could even be possible for them to be working on it, we'll see how it goes in the future.

in 2026 dbd will turn 10 years old, I hope to have some mention of a heavy polishing of the current engine, or a new reconstruction in unreal 5, it would be a great gift for all players.

Believe it or not they have allegedly been working on an unreal engine 5 upgrade for the past year or two, so I would say it's pretty likely we either get it near the end of this year or probably next year around the middle or beginning if behavior finally picks up their pace but if not 2026 is a good projection I think

Unreal engine 5 is an amazing engine and incredibly accessible, I as a game developer on unreal engine 5 think that it's incredibly possible and likely that they'll be able to get the game on to 5 fairly easily, can't wait to see the results hopefully soon!

I know this is a semi Necro, but it was confirmed that the latest patch runs UE 5.2.1, granted it is in a messy state but it is also the PTB. Hopefully they will change the code they use too (currently it is blueprint) or at least find a way to optimize the way the game works so that we don't have as many glitches leading to things being kill switched, but I will give BHVR credit and say it is a step in the right direction.

They would be better off doing the smite 2 route where everyone loses everything so you need to rebuy the characters cosmetics and everything else and just call it dbd 2 they will make it free to play as base game and everything else will cost 20-30% more as a result.

That is a terrible idea, they could do what Overwatch 2 did, but make it work?

Maybe wait for Unreal Engine 6 before they move everything over.

Also it's not "necessary". It's nice to have.

Stuttering
Anyone else getting glitching stuttering while in a match? It's borderline unplayable.

Game crash with new update?
I can't even get to the menu before the game crashes. Anyone else getting this after the update?

Any idea how to fix this?

It keeps trying to force me to upgrade my drivers. I literally ran the game less than 24 hours ago just fine. WTF
