For The People + Buckle Up
If this is not considered as 'cheesing' in this game, then the argument about the competetive nature of this game is oficially closed. Emotions aside, let's talk about this...

It's been 7 years and there are still perks that allow players to outplay the opposite side by pressing a button. Unfair, unfun, unearned... There is not a single redeeming or logical factor to this 'tech' that explains why it's still in the game.

I had a few conversation with people in the end game chat when I refused to play against this tactic due to it's infuriating nature, took the 'L' and instead asked a simple question: 'Why do you think this combo is fine?'

Arguments / My replies

  • 'You have one survivor who is not doing gens and following you around, this hurts the survivor side more.' - I would agree if there weren't toolboxes in the game that allow them to fix generators with double efficiency, replacing any missing teammate who is not doing the objective.
  • 'Just injure the survivor who is running this combo' - First of all, killers have no idea what build each survivor has, we already have a bunch of other perks we have to look out for. Secondly, unless you are playing Legion, Plague or one of the 'S-tier' killers, injuring survivors is not as easy, especially at the beginning of a match.
  • 'Just wait the endurance status effect out' - ... Back to old 'Dead Hard' argument, I see...
  • 'Killers also have busted characters, perks and strategies.' - Now, this is true. What's interesting is that (outside of bringing up Nurese and Blight, which I didn't play during those matches, nor do I like playing as them) they mentioned 'Pop Goes The Weasel', 'Scourge Hook: Pain Resonanse', 'Dead Man's Switch', 'Grim Embrace'... You know... Perks taht require a specific action that activates them. What activates 'For The People'? Correct, it's existance. What activates 'Buckle Up'? Correct, it's existance.
  • 'Killers like Knight and Skull Merchant also press a buton and their power works' - true, but there is a way to outplay them. As unfun as this outplay is, it is still there, which is not the case for the combo in question in MOST cases.

I would like to hear your opinion about this combination of perks which I personally find extremely depressing and unfun to go againts. No one likes it when they play well, get rewarded only then to lose everything. No matter who you ask, killers or survivors, if this situation is occuring withing the game at regular bases, the game design is considered MISERABLE by all deffinitions.

The less mechanics, techs, perks, characters we have that also suffer from such 'gamedesign philosophy' we have, the better the game's health will be overall.

I wanted to provide my sollutions for this problem in this section, but I think we can all agree that when it comes to suggestions, they are the first thing that BHVR ignores when given to them. No need to even waste the time and I think my DC-penalty is over by now, so see you in the fog or in the comments section bellow. Have a great day and thank you for reading.

Dude I agree with you but if you wanna these perks get nerfed then gimme back my old dead hard and iron will

Should've been nerfed two patches ago, imo.
Truly awful every single time it's used. The good news is that Forced Penance can counter it, if the right person is broken.

Hm... Not really nerfed, but there must be SOMETHING the survivors should de before utilizing the combo. Like unhooking their teammate, now THAT I can understand... But when they use this at THE VERY first chase, at THE EARLY game, when the killer role is at it's weakest, then I think this is a problematic 'feature'.

  • Old 'Dead Hard' - the same problem, so no...
  • Old 'Iron Will' - why not? But I don't have the power

They needed 6 month or smth to nerf MFT
Better to nerf stbl and sloppy once again then truly braindead broken combos

Unfortunately, in this reality, wasting a perk slot for that is not an option... True though

I agree. It is very sad that we will be stuck with this combo for a WHILE

I'd be fine with Iron will, but old DH is just as bad as this combo, if not worse since it's a single perk for a pretty similar effect.

My problem with Buckle Up is it completely outclasses We're Gonna Live Forever, i haven't seen that perk used in years

Buckle Up should only provide Endurance to the downed Survivor as it still gives Aura, give We're Gonna Live Forever Endurance to both Survivors as it requires a special condition then deactivates permanently, as one FtP play is game changing enough per trial

weeps inconsolably in using WGLF for years
But yeah, there's no reason this combo should exist. It's dumb. Very, very dumb. I understand both sides have stupid things, but the idea should be that removing dumb things is good, period.

At the very least, this combo is one of the last really dumb things survivors have right now.

The solution to this problem is so simple. Make a requirement for buckle up to work that you have to heal the survivor on the ground for at least 3 seconds. Boom. and it can work then with ftp but you cant do it in the killers face.

So your suggestion is : "we nerf a broken perk combo and bring back another broken perk combo" .... sounds... weird honestly.
