Are killers actually quitting?
I play 95% killer and for a couple of years now people kept saying ''this is why killers are quitting DBD'' when a patch would nerf killers.
IIRC there even was a datamine thta showed on the average players waiting in queue were 1 killer for every 50+ survivors.

But if that's really the case shouldn't killers have near instant matchmaking 24/7 in my experience during the EU daytime i'm waiting 5-10 minutes on a killer match and only inn the evening do the wait times become 20 seconds or less.
And this was also the case before they added the bonus BP for matchmaking as a role that needed to be filled.

So are killers just not leaving? is the matchmaking funky? what's going on?

It's just the 4:1 dynamic. At times there are hundreds more survivor players than killers, other times there aren't many survivors. I wouldn't really say one side is quitting or not, it just comes and goes with the game balance and the time of day.

I do not believe this is the case. My waiting time is not longer than a minute or two.

NO there's no killers leaving, had this form of gaslighting before some years ago and it wasn't true then and isn't now.

There is no way for you to know that from the dev released data. But when we look back to the 6.1 update that changed a bunch of perks we know that there were times in the queue where there were 45 killers to 4500 survivors.

I don't know if you are paying attention or not but largely speaking the last 2 years have been absolutely brutal for killer balance (other than a few random buffs like Huntress getting more hatchets for no reason).

1. Pretty much all of the 6.1 perks that got "buffed" for killer have all been nerfed or reverted. As a reminder : "old" Pain Res showed you which gen was hit and would allow you to tunnel one survivor and regress generators by 15% with each hook. As a function of game design slow killers that are "meh" in chase or dont have the ability to instantly traverse the map (not blight, not nurse, not billy, etc.) have trouble getting good value out of perks like Pop Goes the Weasel beacuse they cant get to the gen before it finishes. Killers that dont have strong anti loop (which is most of the 30+ killers in the game) dont get much value out of Pain Res because they dont get fast chases vs good players.

2. Sloppy Butcher, Ultimate weapon and a few other killer perks were obliterated. STBFL was essentially moved from best in slot to worst in slot for both Nemesis/Pig. It was really only "great" on those two killers (would have also been good on unknown and likely got nerfed for that reason). It was obviously very important to nerf Nemesis and Pig because they were far more oppressive than Nurse or Blight with that perk. Hopefully you can note the sarcasm.

3. Limited kicking for killers with no limitation for survivors really hurts the low/middle tier killers (why are you not limited to 2 full heals per game to make injuries matter).

4. Flashlights were "recently" made stupidly easy. To make this worse we buffed Background player twice into a state that feels worse than the original "instant blind" flashlights. In other words : I get blinded more now than I ever did during the time when flashlights were stupidly broken. Oh and of course look at all the crazy flashlight perks survivors have available. The biggest offender are flashbangs because there is no defense (other than lightborn) when they are timed perfectly. But thanks to flashlight changes you don't have to time them perfectly and there is a *gigantic* window where you cant mess up.

5. Decisive Strike is extra punishing to all the "bad" to "ok" killers and still doesn't do much against the "great" killers.

Overall I consider myself a killer main and have been playing since the start. Do you know how many people I know who regularly play killer as their main? I can count them with one hand. If I exclude people I have met in the last two years that number jumps to zero.

The reality is that a lot of survivors "dabble" in playing killer occasionally. They think playing killer is easy because they're not soft locked by the MMR like most killer mains are.

The bottom line here is that you're deluding yourself if you think the killer population is "healthy".

Matchmaking bonus is still +100% for survivor most of the time. Like 20/24 hrs.
Matchmaking bonus is +100% for killer for maybe 2/24 hrs (during peak swf time).

Heard alot of killers stopped bc the incredibly OP perk Ultimate weapon got hard nerfed but they'll complain then eventually come back.

Same thing happened when the incredibly OP perk DH got nerfed.

They'll cry then come back
