If you can get behind that, then I think representing different forms and genres of horror becomes easier to justify within the game, since Vecna represents a fantasy horror angle that we haven't really seen yet.
I don't get what you mean by "our real world". What world? Some characters are based on films, others come straight from video games. As long as they don't make stuff that could be in a kids cartoon I'll be fine with it.
tbf, we've needed more emotes for a while now, we already use what we have for bm, why not add some more communication emotes for soloq that can also be used for bm, but also to tell others to "go for the rescue" or "work on this gen" or whatnot
(anything is bm if you use it that way, look at crouching ;D)
This even goes for survivors, Mikaela and Sable use some basic magic, and I'd go as far as saying that Cheryl is more "magical" than any survivor you could pull from the D&D universe.
Bubba is a horror character from a movie set in the real world.
Nick Cage has been in horror movies, and he's a real human.
The Nostromo is the setting for a sci-horror movie set in our future.
Jill is from a horror game set in 'our' world.
Iron Maiden t-shirts exist and are not strange to wear.
You're doing the tired old "lol you're nitpicking nonsensical plot in Game Of Thrones, when it has freakin' dragons and magic, bro!" A piece of entertainment requires INTERNAL LOGIC. The logic of DBD is that horror monsters exist in the real world, and bits of the world from different time periods are recreated by a malevolent entity. Then they added an Elf from D&D (a fantasy world mentioned in Stranger Things, which we have characters from in DBD)
If Game Of Thrones introduced Master Chief for an episode, it would shatter the verisimilitude, even though the world has 'dragons n' ♥♥♥♥♥.'
