Why are so many survivors giving up today?
I've played three matches in a row where like, a total of 5-6 survivors gave up almost instantly on first or second hook. I started playing Dredge for the first time and this has been what's happening. Do people just hate Dredge or something? Someone literally idled the entire game while looking at me and waiting to be hooked.

And it's not like I was playing toxic or anything. I never do. I was just playing him normally with a set of viable perks for his playstyle.

I wish that people weren't so immovable against the concept of going against a certain killer (Unless it's a 3 gen Skull Merchant) or losing once against the killer. It just seems like such entitled (or a better word would be selfish) behavior, where the second things stop going their way, they give up, and that just dooms the rest of their team to have 1 less teammate, leading to the others to most times give up too and be more cynical of solo queue teams.

The concept of losing needs to be accepted, or you'll never improve. It's part of life.

It was last year the same, cause killer are more op than they already are atm.

Killer can telport hook, destroy pallets with invitations and the survs just have no worthfull kit.

So + that people play for BP, survivor is a mess at the event.

When u normally escape in soloq like 40-50%, you will see you atm with like 10%.

I think the term entitled is thrown around too easily. I know nightfall does give some people headaches and so they don't enjoy dredge games. Same with Plague where the vomiting effect makes some people physically nauseous.

It is thrown around. A better word would be selfish. If it makes them sick or such, then at least just DC so your teammates get to keep a teammate as a bot, rather than snowballing the rest of your team into giving up or losing leverage over the game cause you gave up on hook instead.
Not only that, but just giving up on hook wastes your teammates' time when they try to risk themselves to go save you but you just end up giving up regardless.

The way its handled is not fair for the rest of their team. And I get that there's a DC penalty, but the game can't always go your way. The other players still want to be able to have fun.

Edit: Plus even with the DC penalty, I doubt you're gonna go against a Dredge or a Plague 3 times in a row so your penalty reaches an effective timeout duration.

Bold assumption that the other players are having fun against dredge

You can't know if they aren't, either, so that assumption remains unknown. The rest of my point still stands. It doesn't even have to be an exclusive case for just Dredge and Plague. I had two survivors give up against Trickster today too while I was trying to get the Adept Trickster achievement. First game, too, and I guarantee you the second survivor gave up because the first one did in that match. Regardless of what killer you're playing against, it's selfish to just give up like that and screw over the rest of your team without even trying.

1300 hours played and you think Quiet Mode is weak? Or that blocking certain window vaults isn't massive? Very telling.

I think "quiet mode" is actually pretty powerful. Not while looking for a gen or injured but when you are in a chase inside or near a jungle gym. Blocking vault locations is also very useful.

Just because you have fun doesn't mean others do. nobodys obligated to play with you, I'd rather leave a game that's going to piss me off then stay and just get in a bad mood. There's only so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I can put up with before I want to leave.

I had the opposite today, did a couple of Pyramid Head games and found survivors giving it their all... I had to work to get 1 kill across two or three games. That hasn't happened in awhile

I've had to stop playing survivor because the players playing DBD now are too soft. They give up at the slightest inconvenience. It's better to play Killer. I put on some music and chill out. I don't care for the 4k and am only interested in a chase. Even with this mentality and no gen regress perks except for Corrupt survivors still kill themselves on hook. If a player comes to me to "go next" I just slug them and let them decided to bleed out or DC. Punish the weak.
That's what I do sometimes too when I'm playing a match and the rest of their teammates are clearly engaging in trying to win by doing gens, but they're just refusing to make any effort to help, so I just slug them and leave them there as a punishment for not even bothering to help their team when they're trying to win. It just annoys me when I see those people, and sometimes it even makes me want to let the rest leave.

Guess what? Sometimes killers can get pissed off too or in a bad mood, but I don't leave, because I understand that sometimes survivor teams can outmatch me entirely. Sometimes I get completely destroyed and only get 1 hook while they finish all 5 gens in 5 minutes, but I'm not gonna leave to punish them for being good, better than me, or just winning. If you're getting upset about the game to the point of wanting to leave, then maybe you need to take a break from the game for a while instead of continuing to play it so you just get more angry.

lotsa people hear my nurse and immediately start to give me free killz

But, you don't understand...they only quit when someone uses the third of the roster they've decided is unfair, when a killer uses perks or addons above green quality, when the total strangers they've grouped with can't live up to their expectations, when the map they wanted isn't granting a free win, when a killer violates their particular flavor of the unwritten rules (because literally everyone has differences in what they find acceptable in this game), or when they're "not having fun."
Totally reasonable, and definitely a mentality that doesn't negate the entire premise of game and competition.
