Mirrored Illusion is REALLY bad, and the devs wont do anything about it.
All the perk needs is an incentive to hit it. It doesn't fool people well, and doesn't even make noise. It needs an immediate buff, not even a waiting period for testing for how bad it is.

AT LEAST give it noise, or let people place it anywhere like triggering a dead-hard. I know the developers are barely ever going to listen to suggestions like this because they only directly acknowledge the most insignificant parts(and now they'll probably totally dismiss this discussion now that I said that), but man this perk is just outright redundant and offers nothing. Like I don't even think they properly play tested this in private to see if it was both interesting AND could ever be utilized.

You can hit it to get rid of it, but what's the point if its not doing anything? Why bother and waste even a second looking at it? It doesn't make you second guess yourself even.

It doesn't even let you hide the person inside of it well since again, IT DOESN'T GIVE NOISE. If the killer hears the noise, you're just caught because they know its not an illusion(if the animations from your character doesn't give it away first).

And on top of that, it doesn't even body block a hit(at least reliably for the 30 games I've tested with it).

50% gen progress for a perk that doesn't even do anything helpful. It doesn't have synergy with any of the other gen progress based perks really besides being there, it doesn't save you, it doesn't help you with the gen, it doesn't even DISTRACT.

It needs an immediate buff. For a paid survivor(albeit with perks still attainable in the shrine of secrets), this was a very under-looked perk for how long they had to test it and do some actual gathering. I get it's not easy developing sometimes, but how did it even get green-lit?

They rolled a fat NAT 1 on this perk being usable.

The perk will get more useful when less people are running it. Killers are less likely to be fooled at the moment because they're expecting everyone to use it.

That's not the point. It literally is just a waste of a perk slot considering that you'll probably only get one use of it early for gens before its just useless to run, and a second use of it MAYBE on exit gates(even though you can bluntly tell that it's an illusion).

The problem is there is no draw to making the killer actually come towards it or hit it to get rid of it. It doesn't show an aura, and it doesn't make any noise when working on the generator to fool the killer. If you're sitting inside the illusion, it doesn't matter what they see.. they straight up just hear the gen being worked on with the tinkering sounds and know you're on it.

Even playing as the killer myself, at the first second I MIGHT think it's a survivor if I even have the line of sight, but immediately I'll know it's fake and just look around a corner or check a locker or something to find the actual survivor and it's over.

At least if there was noise, I'd be more likely to walk by shack or something and hear the gen being worked on through the wall(even at low progress), and then I'd commit to checking only to find the illusion. THAT would be worth it more for survivors, and it would prompt me to hit the illusion and kick the generator more often than not.

Either noise, or making it where if you're within 10 meters of your illusion that any time your aura is revealed, it's aura is revealed instead would be nice. Again, works as a distraction as it's supposed to, doesn't replace other perks like distortion, and actually draws killers to commit to checking the generator. It's not that people using it a lot right now since it's new, it's the fact that it just doesn't do anything really useful that other perks like red herring or other gen progress based perks could do.

Even the BEST build for it right now is Red Herring, Mirrored Illusion, Blast Mine, and Champion of Light.. but you could still swap Mirrored Illusion with Flashbang or Repressed Alliance for **90%** more value(-10% for the fact they use a minuscule amount of time to punch the illusion away).

It's just not good.

stop thinking in metacrap terms and minmaxing every single aspect of a videogame and you'll enjoy it more

Don't use it on early gens, then. The point is to waste a bunch of the killer's time, so you should spring it when you'd get the most value out of it. Yeah obviously if you put it on a gen early game and the killer realises you're running it you're not gonna get value.

And why do you care what the "best build" for mirrored is? Don't build to get value out of one perk, just run the perks that support your play style. Mirrored can waste more of the killer's time than blast mine, repressed and flash bang put together but you need to use it smarter than "wait for the killer to get close and then annoy them with your flash combo for 10 seconds". Which by the way, also probably won't work after the first time you pull it off.

Its mostly to get the killer to go check it out. Like, if you throw it on a gen or the exit gates and they're far enough away, it looks like a survivor. Those few seconds might be all you need to get away. If you put it down and hide in the closest locker, then yeah, you're going to get caught lol Use it and go somewhere else and let it do its work.

Run Spine Chill + Mirror against a stealth killer, works like a charm.

It's fine right now, I use it to have it poking out while I am working on the gen is a safer spot. Works well for ranged killers since they waste their power on the illusion and, I say this as a Legion player, it can really screw over some of the more speed based killers, who might not have the time to think and just go for the hit.

"Oh hey, this person is blind! Time for a free hit!" that is the general premise of it's use. Tap a gen, apply, move on to a more important gen

"It's not good"

Yeah tell that to all the Ghost Faces I've used it against :Rivals:

Yeah meh perk
Voidlines.ttv Jun 12, 2024 @ 6:25pm
I just see it as a fun perk that might work on the less suspecting, it doesn't need to be a meta perk.
Yeah just worse blast mine rn, with how much easier it is to detect they should make it more punishing to fall for than blast mine, not less. I was thinking make it give the survivor that places it the eye of vecnas invisibility for a few seconds after placing it, or if that's too strong, make it where they get the invisibility after the killer falls for and hits the illusion. Blast mine already gives you several seconds of distance from the gen, mirrored illusion should bare minimum do the same. At least then it'll be a re skinned blast mine instead of a worse one.
