there are certain gameplay aspects that still strongly benefit from thoughtful selection of perks. aside from this, i don't mind playing with a few random / diceroll perks.
i like that I can experience some gameplay variety without thinking about perks (i.e. i feel lazy to choose perks). a little nudge with a 'random' perk that gives +bp bonus will be nice.
There are a few potential issues with not having it as a mode.
One could create a bloodpoint incentive to do so. But, it would be used a minority of times. And seeing one person run it every other game, while an improvement, is not great. Also, I'd argue that killers that select it are at risk of running a meme build against whatever the survivors bring.
I do think it needs to be in it's own lane to fully work.
I agree, though I'd not mind some map offering nerfs overall either so I might be biased.
It's not for everyone, of course. But I still think it's worth testing to see players' interest in using it in normal mode. Lots of people play less competitive when doing old tome challenges (which is where the idea of random perks challenge was first introduced - the challenge gave bp or some sense of progress).
When I play killer, and I don't have a challenge to kill survivors, I don't mind running random perks to do a challenge like "chase survivors for X seconds" or "break X generators".
When I play survivor, and I don't have a challenge that requires escaping, I don't mind running random perks to "finish 1 generator" or "vault X times while in chase" or "heal X survivors". As a regular solo queue player, I see some teammates using random perks often, and I'm fine with it (as long as I don't have a challenge to escape).
I'm a lazy setup player who focuses on challenges. I like to just jump in and play the dance game. I wouldn't go to the perk randomizer website to choose perks. Too much effort. I stick with just 1 main build. With "random" perks available, I'd just keep 2-3 chosen/favorite perks and 1-2 "random" perks in my main build and play match after match - I'd pause only to select challenges.
If they made it permanent, I would like some tweaks. The only offerings one can bring are the bp ones. Game mode is supposed to be fun.
This is my opinion of course.
1-2-3-4 accruing 25% BP bonus perk random slot selected up to 100% bonus
It would be restricted to unlocked perks probably due to not having to buy any DLC bypass
I want a permanent mode queue that shifts. I'd never play base DBD again.
