Killer Rules
I think the dev team is doing good at trying to improve this game and make it as fair as possible. They are doing a great job. Their job. It's not the players' job to make the game fun or not. If we want the killers to give us hatch, not tunnel, play "nicely", then they could be rewarded for it. For example they could improve the function of giving props and actually make them give the player something, it could be a great way to appreciate who you think played fairly or just had fun playing with/against. I love a friendly interaction between the two sides, but somebody might just want to play the game a little bit more seriously. But that's okay. Players have their own idea of what counts as victory, fun or the correct way to play, therefore we cannot be sure that we all have the same understanding. The solution shouldn't be to blame or insult the other for not satisfying your "rules" or expectations of the game. I always keep it in mind that behind that killer or survivor is a gamer like myself that just wants to play. So I treat them with respect and kindness no matter how they play.

(Because this keeps popping up I rewritten the original post. You can find it in the comments somewhere, but it was a harsh way of me expressing my thoughts and suprise at this whole situation as a newer player. This edited version might be a better explanation of mine, but my point still stands the same.)

Thats a very narcissistic view at the game.
the amount of times ive played killer and come across survivors with nothing but - rep for tunneling and camping in dbd on their profile, and you tunnel them out to prove how fun it is and in most cases they will cry like kids about being tunneled.

No one says its a rule, its just a term coined by by people like yourself who cant play the role of killer without having to resort to degrading playstyles that ruins fun for everyone but yourself. Your not getting paid to feed your family with each hook so just enjoy the game. Its not all about the W. some people just dont get that.

Something to think about:

There are people here who can be mean-spirited by nature. And that's going to show in your matches. It's crazy to expect them to care about all things good-natured people might, just like IRL.

You can’t compare video game actions to what kind of person someone is in real life

When i used to play, i would feel bad if they team was just trying their best and messed up a few times, So i sometimes let one or two go but that's just me.

literally most people playing PvP games enjoy winning and find fun in that, can we stop pretending that playing to win brings no fun.
Besides, you play for your own fun, you are not obligated to catter to fun of other people just because they are sore losers aka. don't like losing at all.
Ohh, and let's not pretend people don't get mad at you for playing to win only when you use specific strategy they don't like. I had so many matches where i played completely fair and had people complain about fun because i just...didn't give them hatch

Theres a big difference between having fun and going out your way to make game it a miserable experience.

what is, by your logic, going your way to make game a miserable experience?

*Shrug* when survivors say you can/can't do something just hit them with the "Didn't ask". The Survivors have no right to dictate how you play and the same goes you to them. If there's no rule book for survivors then there isn't one for killers. I shouldn't have to be beckoned, T-baged, Flashlight spammed, Gen Rushed, negative comments on profiles, waiting at the exit gates to rub it in or insulted at the end game chat. just because they didn't like the 2 second slug or the 10 second chase

As far as i'm concerned as many others have said if previous threads, The Survivors job is to do gens and get out, Yours is to kill them by any means. You should do whatever makes you happy, don't feel the need to conform to their idea of what a killer "should be"

A high prestige leveled survivor team with flashlights is scarier than any of the killers that I've faced. I don't wait for the killer to have a hook before I finish the first gen and the killer doesn't wait with killing somebody fast either. I don't think your fun should be the other side's responsibility. Being tunneled means you're constantly in chase and that is the best part of the game. If I'm being tunneled I think of it like it's an opportunity to practice chasing more. I get it, you're already injured so it's not that fair, but there are a lot of perks that can help you out. You just can't expect others to change their way of playing just for you.

Following your same logic then "Bully Squads" are fine and if you get queued by them just enjoy it. Since "you can expect others to change their way of playing just for you". Right?

The very core of this game is do whatever you can do to escape/kill which brings the worst possible "tactics" a person can do.

You want to tunnel? Sure, do it but you will ruin that other persons fun just so you can have your way and not let that player enjoy the whole match. Want to flashbang/flashlights killers to deny them hooks? Sure, why not, make that player angry because they can't play the game and enjoy their match.

This game system really doesn't have a way to balance stuff so everyone can have fun. Only if you don't give a damn what happens in the match is when you truly enjoy it. If you care to win in this game is really pathetic, for both sides.

Tunneling/camping are seen badly simply because it's a cheap tactic to win. Why do you have the need to get a kill quickly when the fun itself is in chases like you said?

I play both sides and never do I resort to these kinds of game styles since it's boring and not fair for my opponents. Nor do I use meta perks for survivors either for the same reason. Every match result being fun as killer for me since I get to chase all 4 of the players and earn a kill when I outplayed them, not because it was the easy way to win.

I didn't play that much killer yet, but I never tunneled. My matches with "bully squads" were one of the funniest ones. Even if they are scarier for me as a newbie killer, I do enjoy playing against a team who goes for saves and sabos. I don't play to win, but If the killer I go against does want to win, I don't mind. I never resort to these playstyles either, but I don't care if others do and I won't blame them for it.

I’m talking about having a mean-spirited nature. That comes with finding humour in things that will annoy others. You see that a lot around you, everywhere. You see that in games. I’m not talking about hardcore crimes.

Im not talking about hardcore crimes either, or any crimes. But you don’t know what kind of person someone is in real life based on the things they do for fun in video games. For example i love being kind of mean spirited in video games like tunneling in this game or killing bards in mordhau or killing friendlies in team fortress 2. Doesn’t mean im mean spirited in real life

People are whiny little dishes. There are rules in the game, anything else is their own fantasy.

"Being tunneled means you're constantly in chase and that is the best part of the game. If I'm being tunneled I think of it like it's an opportunity to practice chasing more."

You must be a really skilled player with thousands hours to survive tunneling unless you have a team that will body block to save you.

After you get unhooked you'll get that first hit very soon and possibly get another chance if it was during endurance, after this only DS can save you but for a short time cuz 3sec stun is not enough to get distance or position in strong loop structure.

So, tunneled person is out of the match and team is left with 3 survs and before the killer saw any of them this match is over if there's more than 1 gen to work on.

This is not an experience I want, nor to be the cause of it.
