Whats wrong with the Unknown?

Did you feel it too? That the power of the Unknown does not fit into his concept.

It tries to look like a human, which is what mimic does.

It copies human voices to hunt like mimic does.

The character's design says that its mimic.

The character's lore says its mimic ("Legend was it thrived in darkness and stole the voices of those it consumed so as to lure others to their doom"; "The Unknown dwells in darkness and can MIMIC its victims").

But in game it can't mimic.

Why, Behavior?

Why instead of mimic we have the Huntress with teleports?

By the way its not what we, humble players/cunsomers, should caring about. We are not the one who had start talking about mimic power - but developers.

The devs have said definitively that they will not make a mimic killer, so the sooner you make peace with the death of that dream, the better.
A mimic wouldn't work in this game. Maybe if voice comms were banned, but that will never happen. I've heard survivor mains talk about how they want a mimic killer so they can prank their SWF friends, but killers don't want to be dependent on survivors wanting to mess with each other in order to be effective.

The killer's power fits because The Killer is simply a manifestation of everything anyone who has ever had a Theory A Game Theory about The Unknown is.
Merely theorising about what it is paints a target on your back and whatever you think it is, it becomes.

Some think it's a government experiment. (Hence the Power being Venom Grenades, Plus half of its addons being Government Cover-up material)
Some think it's a Serial Killer (Hence the Axe, The attempt at a Human appearance and The Homemade Mask addon)
Some think it to be an Alien (Hence the Tentacles in its Mori and the Device of Undisclosed Origin Addon)

It's kind of another take on Dredge, but instead of a single Manifestation of Negative thoughts using the corpses of the cult who summoned it to Manifest.
It's a Manifestation of several thoughts and theories come to life. In the Multiverse of DbD it's clear that mere Stories in one Universe, are Real in another or become real in the realm of The Entity.
It's how Feng can cosplay as Fictional-to-her Jill Valentine, whilst also meeting Real Jill Valentine in the Realm.

Yeah there was a whole thing about only having humanoid killers too, people were all up in arms over this everytime someone asked for Xeno or something lol.

Although, I have to agree that this is somethign that probably wont ever happen.

Besides SWF the new Survivor HUD also can ruin the concept.

Sure, they brought up mimics, but the way it was described also made it seem pretty clear that its mimicry was... Well, 'wrong.' Like, maybe it could kind of trick someone not expecting it for a while, but if you're in the Entity's realm, are you really going to fall for that? It mimics voices, but they sound wrong, and can only mimic what it's heard. When you see it, it doesn't look human. If it had been portrayed as effective at tricking people I think that would make sense, but I feel like the descriptions prior to release did everything possible to make it clear that this thing isn't going to effectively mimic people, it copies them poorly.

Built in 7 seconds Knock out and an active that mimics a recently downed survivor scream. Mimic the scream bout 4 meters elsewhere and go insidious for the wait perhaps.
