How to hugtech on mastermind

I've recently got my hands on Project W and began studying Wesker before touching him to know the basis first and learned of his techs, however despite of hugtech looking so damn easy on every video I fail completely while trying to do that in many of custom lobbies not even trying it in chase with ratio of 1 success to ~30 fails, failling mostly by pressing M1 right the moment when the text dissapears. Hugtech is important as far as I know, but for me it's a complete and unlikeable random that can't be relied on. Sometimes I even can't do a single hug during a custom match, lol.

It's all about trials&tribulations, plus it depends on fps setting in-game too. Sometimes it's easier to perform on constant 60 fps. I running Wesker for 8 months since I returned to DBD (mostly because of him being a killer here) and I can't get hugtech right sometimes too, due to my burnouts. Honestly, you can perform well with the other techs he has (such as skinny and the others) while hugtech is just a nice addition, yet I know it's satisfying.

Hugtech can get you some hits you wouldn’t get otherwise but it’s really just a frame perfect dash as far as I’m aware. I think alranican made a video with a ton of different ways to hugtech so try those and see what works. You also should probably learn weskers general hitboxes first so you know what he can slide off of.

Hug tech isn't that important. You can do just about everything with just rebounds and skinny berts. Hug tech is just a flashy, suboptimal move.
