Low End PC's
My PC is not very good but does meet the minimum requirements to run the game so I run this game with low graphics settings at a resolution of 800x600 and for the most part it works perfectly fine but after about an hour or two the game will randomly crash. It doesn't matter if I'm in a game or selecting something on the bloodweb in the main menu it always ends up crashing. I decided to lower the resolution scale even more at 512x384 and the crashes occur less but whenever it does crash I get a text box saying the resolution is too low to run the game despite it working at that resolution for the past few hours. The constant crashes are especially infuriating when it occurs during matches as I am constantly on a matchmaking ban due to the constant crashes. I am now at 24 hours on the ban timer so does anybody have any solutions for this?

What are your specs?

Sounds like the temps are getting too high for the CPU or GPU, or both. It would make sense that lowering the workload would increase how much time you have before they become too hot and the game crashes. It could be running out of memory as well I suppose.

You got to get a new rig once in a while. I mean, 640x480 and 800x600 was the standart resolution in 90s (25+ years ago).

That GPU is 13 generations old, sadly the only thing I think will help you will be to fully upgrade your pc.

I do plan to upgrade the graphics card eventually because I bought this PC so that I could build onto it and improve it piece by piece but I was just wondering if there is an alternative thing I can do before I get to that point

The CPU is 10 years old, GPU is even older. Even current gen consoles are better than your gear, you need a full upgrade.

Btw, this is not a low end PC by todays standards, DbD will run just fine on a more modern low end PC.

The CPU is almost OK, but the graphics... Don't know Radeon well top of ym head, I wonder you could try the CPU HD4600. Anyway, you've tried turn on FSR? Limit framrate to 30 fps. But it sounds to me you ran out of RAM or simple the system can't take more. I recommend keep break and close the game after an hour of playtime.

Honestly, with your GPU being 13 generations behind..Only thing you can really do is see if there are ways to further tweak the game so your card runs it better

Current gen consoles are quite powerful. Their gpus are something ~rtx3060-rtx3070 like.

If I recall correctly the cpu should be fine, I think my original pc had a i5 4690k and I was playing D2, Nier Automata, and a couple other games on it, it shouldn't cost too much to get a second hand gtx 1050ti with 4gb of vram. which is probably better than what you're using.

But you definitely do need to overhaul your whole pc.

I'm honestly surprised a 6450 can even launch the game tbh.

I would scrap the idea of upgrading your rig and start buying components for a new one. You might be able to salvage the case though.

Its hard to imagine the graphics card is not struggling. Frankly, I'm kind of surprised you ever get the game running at 1GB AMD. Do you get smooth turning 360, or does it go clunky, if you spin the view?? Usually when a graphics card is over taxed, you start to get a stop motion like effect on turning around the character.

Have you turned, on or off, the "Auto-resolution". its an option in graphic settings. Whatever you do have, maybe reverse it, in case that or the absence of it makes a difference.

Also, maybe try shifting out of "Full screen", to "windowed", in options. Or again vice versa. Sometimes these things just work for no clear reason.

As a passing thought, when you are in the game, be sure to close everything else that pulls on the graphics card. I would close everything. Especially web browers like Edge or Firefox, etc. Or something like discord.

Again, as a random passing thought. In windows you can generally select what the graphics card operates as. Performance or efficienty. And usally the options are

- Let the computer deside
- High performance
- High Efficiency.

Whatever its set at, you might want to try the other two options.
Settings / graphics or somewhere similar, based on what Windows you have, etc.
so I play the game at 512x384 at full screen and that gives me 60 fps and above. 800x600 also gives me 60fps but as previously mentioned my game crashes a whole lot when it is set at 800x600. I made some adjustments to my settings and my PC's positioning which seemed to have worked for now. fingers crossed that it stays that way

A full upgrade is definitely the end goal for me and this PC but the problem about that is that it costs quite a large amount of money. money that I don't have. So depending on how far I want the upgrades to go it'll either be a multi-month endeavour or a multi-year endeavour which is why I'm asking for a solution I can use in the meantime

Depending on how old it is, if you got the parts and put it together yourself or if you just bought it off someone and haven't touched it, you could try taking it apart and repasting it with some high quality paste (about $12 for something of a higher quality)

outside of that it's just cleaning it and getting some good fans. to make sure it's cool, or you can monitor temps via software to make sure it isn't overheating that is causing crashes.

If it's not heat then it may be your gpu's lack of vram causing a crash after a while, and at that point a newer gpu with 4gb of vram isn't all that expensive secondhand.
