Is there any particular reason why you want to use a VPN? Do you feel like targeted? I can imagine streamers with a large number of subscribers who regularly stream can be targets. Otherwise I would think this is way too much protection "average" folks should do.
You mention hackers but hackers can show up in any games. DbD uses dedicated servers so it's not like IP addresses get out. And for a targeted attack against you that would be needed.
I feel very targeted right now, yes. Because just a few days ago a hacker took hold of my steam account and then my outlook immeaditly after. I managed to change my password/2 step on everything and since then all seems normal but it still feels scary.
I didn't click on any links, had something to do with marketplace since a ton of bots came in and started buying cards from me. Afterwards, it happened. I've dealt with it though, I am pretty sure I'm safe now.
