I’ve never seen anyone play Skull Merchant

I’m pretty new, got the game around the same time that Pinhead was unplayable due to bugging the game. I’ve heard people hate Skull merchant for ‘ruining the fun’ by locking down generators and generally making the game less fun to play, but I know there’s a lot of players who enjoy making the game less fun for others/trolling people so I’m genuinely surprised I’ve never played a game against a killer that is apparently so hated. I would have thought lots of players would be using her for easier wins and winning through people disconnecting and generally enjoying knowing they are being jerks cause I’ve seen tons of videos and discussions about people getting their kicks by frustrating other players like with flashlight/discord chat/troll teams so I’m curious why more people don’t play the killer that is pretty much guaranteed to generate frustration.

Basically I’m just surprised at the idea that there is apparently a killer so hated for trolling that such a touchy mean spirited fan base (no offence) don’t even use her

Well, the truth is that no one was ever excited about her. When she came out, it was actually kind of a "womp womp" moment for the game. Even setting aside the issues with her power, her design just isn't something a lot of people are interested in playing, and lore fans don't really like her lore either. She also created a little bit of bad blood among certain killers, due to her being unfavorably compared to Predator.
Killer players will play a garbage character just because they think they look cool, and like the lore.

Lots of players will insta DC/afk against a skull merchant, so i'm not surprised she's rarely seen. Skull Merchant looked super cool to me when I first started playing, but I don't play her anymore because games are miserable on the killer side when people just give up or refuse to play, even if you don't engage in the frustrating playstyle people hate.

not really because of that, but because she has a really bonus design and her power is way too...passive. You are basically a killer that is a status effect simulator

I guess people didn't realize she got a rework and she changed from being a 3 gen holder to very decent chaser. Her power now shines the most at strong loops for survivors and makes them miserable, setting a drone around the gen just to defend it doesn't work anymore since you have to be scanned by a lasers while you are in motion.

I played as her and against her just yesterday. Won both instances.
I think the hindered effect her drones inflict is a bit too much on top of the broken effect. I think it should probably just be the broken effect. All in all though, I don't mind playing against her. I think a lot of players exaggerate because they give up without ever learning. Like a picky eater that won't try a new food. They've never actually tasted it, but they will swear up and down that they know they don't like it.

Many Reasons, and I say this as someone who enjoys playing her:

1. she doesnt excell at anything. So if you think "hmm today I want Stealth killers" you could pick her, but why do it when you also have Ghostface, Wraith, etc. Same with "yeah Ill play heavy, fast Chase today". I could pick her. I could also pick Demogorgon or Wesker. See what I mean? If you dont really know in what mood you are thought? then shes pretty great

2. You get Hatemail. Im not joking. Im not exaggarating. People here and on Reddit regulary hate on Skullmerchant like its their Religion and it will hit you if you play her. Sure you get salt when you play other Killers aswell but for some reason many dont "hold back" on you with flame when its a Skullmerchant. I honestly dont really care since its funny but if you DO care? well thats another reason not to play her

3. The Gameplay, whilst entertaining (for me at least, cant speak for others) doesnt have these "YES got you!" moments. For example when you force someone into your Trap as Trapper, hit someone with a long Shred from Demo, hit a Wallslam with Wekser and many others.
Sure you get Clawtraps and whilst those are strong they more or less happen passivly, so they dont hit as hard mentally. Ive also had moments where I hit someone with a M1 and they got their Clawtrap directly after, if it was the other way around I would have gotten a instadown. Not as frustrating as stepping into your own Trap but yeah

I like her "Jack of all Trades" Playstyle. Her Mori is my second favorite in the entire Game. I regulary use "Game afoot" on other Killers since im a Rancor Junkie and thus need to switch Obsession anyway and its pretty good for that.

I definitly advice any Killerplayer to try her out if you dont know your personal Playstyle yet but I can understand why softer individuals, Killers wanting to win and Variety enjoyers dont play her as much

i like playing skull merchant ever since her rework her only downside is forcing a hold W gameplay i guess she feels a bit like knight for me where at a loop its either a guaranteed hit or a W chase

It was hilarious when I ended up in a 3 gen situation on haddonfield yesterday..
Despite survivors getting an entire patch to stopping 3 gens, theyd still make it themselves 💀

I got the skull merchant but never played her yet because Im still busy leveling up the other killers for their perks to be at least level 3 before I play her. STBFL, brutal strengh/dissolution{swop out between these 2), pain res and surge sounds too good on her and her drones injuring a obsession wont lose any stacks of STBFL, if i encounter any flashlight survivors i just swop out STBFL for franklins demise for those extra dc lol.

I've seen a the skull merchant quite regularly, but in all my hours, I have NEVER seen someone play the Twins. Since I usually play this game on and off, I was playing something else when they came out, but afterwards I have to this day not have seen them a single time. I've seen more freeddies before and after the rework.

That hasn't been true in a good long while. She was changed months ago to get away from that playstyle

Yeah I was about to say I’ve literally never seen anyone play the twins outside my buddy streaming the game and I asked him to play them to show me

Also it’s interesting that I main Freddy and Pinhead and I’ve actually seen quite a few people play Freddy in my early weeks when I hear he’s like an F tier killer. I like him because I’m a massive NMOES fan and even though he’s not the Robert Englund one I enjoy getting into character and stalking people

Still, literally never seen Skull
Merchant even though she’s probably more effective than Freddy who’s not really that great a killer
