On the DbD store page there are system requirements and it says "OS: 64-bit Operating Systems (Windows 7, Windows 8.1)". DbD should be running on W7 as always and we should not change our whole OS to play the game we play for years now. This issue should be patched so we could play DbD again. End of story.

Those system requirements were put in when the game released, over four years ago. They're in the process of updating the game, which means the requirements change. That also means older, non-supported OS's will get dropped. That's just how things work, update your OS or uninstall.
lets see...
windows 7 is still supported by steam.
windows 7 is still supported by unreal engine 4.
windows 7 was the minimum requirement to run dbd.

yea nope. there is no incentive whatsoever to install garbage windows 10. the leap from xp to vista at least made sense, because computer architecture moved on from 1 or 2 gb of ram to 4 which xp couldn't handle.
and that was the only reason. not the bs of microsoft gating off newer dx versions for newer os versions and EA advertising crisis as the game that needs the new dx version.

and the "nO lOnGeR sUpPoRtEd" argument doesn't work with me either.
for every format and reinstall windows i run the current most up to date auto updates and then the ♥♥♥♥ gets killed off to never bother me with it again.
do you think i do give a ♥♥♥♥ that i don't receive more updates for windows7? lol think again.

like wtf does windows 10 even offer that should make me consider to move os? imo it's nothing. it's a more resource hungry os with loads of crap in it that i don't need.

that's why the laptop i bought last year which came "windows 10 ready" got linux installed by me on the side immediately, because i'm not willing to use the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ os.

The most recent upgrades of Unreal Engine require DLLs that aren't supported for Windows 7. While it might not happen for other games, not all games use the same UE version. DBD has announced way back that it will keep updating to the newest Unreal Engine versions each time a new one comes out.

Whether or not there are plans to reinstate support for Windows 7 in the future, I have no answer for that.

Great! That means either update to the worst OS available or never play DBD again. I love my options!

XInput 9.1.0

Like XInput 1.4, XInput 9.1.0 ships today as a system component in Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows Vista as XINPUT9_1_0.DLL. It is maintained primarily for backward compatibility with existing applications. It has a reduced function set so we recommend that you use XInput 1.4, if possible. But it is convenient to use for applications that must run on down-level versions of Windows but don't need the additional functionality provided by XInput 1.4 or XInput 1.3.

The Windows SDK contains the header and import library for statically linking against XINPUT9_1_0.DLL.

XInput 1.4 has these disadvantages over other versions of XInput:

For backward compatibility reasons, XInputGetCapabilities in this version of XInput returns fixed capability information. Regardless of Xbox common controller device attached, XInputGetCapabilities in XInput 1.4 will always report a device subtype of GAMEPAD. It will not return the XINPUT_CAPS_WIRELESS capability bit even if a wireless device is connected.
You can't determine the headset for a given user ID. The XInputGetAudioDeviceIds function is not available and XInputGetDSoundAudioDeviceGuids function will return no results on Windows 8.
The XInputEnable, XInputGetBatteryInformation, and XInputGetKeystroke functions are not available.

Ok.
I will therefore be forced to uninstall the game and never not play.
I'm sorry, I've played this game too.
Thank you.

From googling around, there seem to be work arounds for other games, but I don't know how reliable they are. Try to google "xinput1_4.dll is missing unreal engine"

the real problem is going to be that IF there is a way for windows 7 and windows 8 users to help themself by acquiring said dll. those people will still be gated out of playing dbd because eac will flag it and prevent the game from launching.

meanwhile the people who should be banned for running no clip and fly mode can still hack in the game as much as they please.

I'm sure you can fix it by verifying your game installation through steam.
